Which companies in Oregon sponsor visas for project consultants?
Intel is one of the most active sponsors for project consultants in Oregon, particularly at its Hillsboro campuses. Nike, based in Beaverton, also sponsors for consultants in operations and technology functions. Healthcare systems like Providence Health and OHSU occasionally hire project consultants on sponsored visas for process improvement and IT implementation work. Smaller consulting firms operating in Portland's professional services sector sponsor less frequently but do engage in sponsorship for specialized roles.
What visa types are most common for project consultant roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project consultants in Oregon, applicable when the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field like business, engineering, or information technology. L-1B visas appear frequently at multinationals like Intel and Nike, covering intracompany transfers with specialized knowledge. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals working in qualifying management consultant roles as defined under USMCA.
How to find project consultant visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, making it straightforward to search for project consultant roles in Oregon without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. You can narrow results by city, industry, and visa type. Given Oregon's concentration of sponsors in the Portland metro and Hillsboro tech corridor, filtering by those areas on Migrate Mate will surface the most relevant opportunities for project consultants seeking sponsorship.
Which Oregon cities have the most project consultant sponsorship jobs?
Portland and its immediate suburbs, including Beaverton and Hillsboro, account for the largest share of project consultant sponsorship activity in Oregon. Hillsboro is particularly active due to Intel's manufacturing and technology operations there. Portland's downtown and Lloyd District host professional services firms, healthcare systems, and technology companies that hire project consultants. Eugene and Salem have a smaller but present market, primarily tied to healthcare and state government adjacent contracting work.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for project consultants pursuing visa sponsorship?
Oregon does not have a state-level prevailing wage requirement separate from the federal DOL standard, so H-1B wage compliance follows standard Department of Labor wage levels for the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro metropolitan area. Oregon's strong ties to semiconductor manufacturing through Intel's Hillsboro operations create consistent demand for project consultants with technical backgrounds. Oregon State University and the University of Oregon also generate a pipeline of international graduates who pursue project consultant roles and require sponsorship from Oregon-based employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project consultant jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
