Which employers in Pennsylvania sponsor visas for nursing instructor positions?
Academic medical centers and nursing schools drive most sponsorship activity in Pennsylvania. Institutions such as UPMC, Penn Medicine, Thomas Jefferson University, Drexel University, and the University of Pittsburgh have documented H-1B filing histories for nursing faculty and clinical instructor roles. Community college nursing programs across the state also hire periodically, though sponsorship is less consistent outside major university health systems.
Which visa types are most common for nursing instructor roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for nursing instructors in Pennsylvania, since faculty roles at accredited institutions typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a master's degree in nursing. The O-1A is an option for candidates with exceptional academic or clinical credentials. Some positions at universities may also qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filing if the employer holds nonprofit or higher education status, which allows year-round petitions outside the annual lottery.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most nursing instructor visa sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia concentrates the most nursing instructor sponsorship activity, anchored by its cluster of major universities and health systems including Jefferson, Drexel, and Penn. Pittsburgh is the second-largest market, driven by UPMC's academic programs and the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. Harrisburg and Allentown have a smaller but active presence through regional hospital-affiliated nursing programs and community colleges serving those metropolitan areas.
How to find nursing instructor visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles with visa sponsorship, which makes it easier to identify nursing instructor positions at Pennsylvania institutions without sorting through postings that don't support international candidates. You can narrow results by location across the state, from Philadelphia and Pittsburgh to smaller regional markets. Searching for nursing instructor and clinical faculty roles on Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have active sponsorship histories in Pennsylvania.
Are there state-specific considerations for nursing instructors seeking sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania requires nursing instructors teaching in accredited programs to hold at minimum a master's degree in nursing, which aligns directly with H-1B specialty occupation standards and strengthens petition approvals. The state's high density of nursing schools creates real demand for qualified faculty, particularly in simulation and clinical education. Prevailing wage determinations for nursing educator roles vary by institution type and county, so employers in rural Pennsylvania may file at different wage levels than those in Philadelphia or Pittsburgh.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nursing instructor jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
