Which technology companies sponsor Green Card visas in South Carolina?
Several large employers in South Carolina have documented Green Card sponsorship activity in technology roles. Blackbaud, a cloud software company headquartered in Charleston, regularly sponsors software engineers and data professionals. Benefitfocus, also in Charleston, has sponsored technology staff. Michelin North America's Greenville headquarters sponsors IT and engineering roles. BMW Manufacturing in the Upstate region also sponsors technology positions tied to its advanced manufacturing operations.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most technology Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Charleston leads South Carolina for technology Green Card sponsorship activity, driven by its growing fintech and software sector anchored by companies like Blackbaud and Benefitfocus. Columbia, the state capital, has a concentration of government IT contractors and university-affiliated technology employers. Greenville and the broader Upstate corridor, home to Michelin and BMW's U.S. operations, generates technology sponsorship in manufacturing systems, automation, and data engineering roles.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in South Carolina?
Roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field are most commonly sponsored. Software engineers, data engineers, cloud architects, cybersecurity analysts, and IT project managers appear frequently in South Carolina Green Card sponsorship filings. Manufacturing-adjacent roles such as automation engineers and systems integration specialists are also common given the state's strong industrial base. Roles classified as specialty occupations under PERM labor certification requirements are the standard threshold employers apply.
How do I find technology Green Card sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, so you can search for Green Card-sponsoring technology employers in South Carolina directly without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. This is particularly useful in South Carolina, where sponsoring employers are spread across Charleston, Columbia, and the Upstate region rather than concentrated in one metro. Browsing by industry category on Migrate Mate helps identify which technology sub-sectors are actively hiring.
Are there any state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in South Carolina's technology sector?
South Carolina has no state-level immigration program, so Green Card sponsorship follows standard federal PERM labor certification and I-140 petition processes regardless of location. One practical consideration is that South Carolina's technology market is smaller than coastal hubs, meaning fewer employers overall sponsor Green Cards. However, the state's manufacturing-driven economy means that technology roles tied to industrial operations, supply chain software, and automation engineering can present sponsorship opportunities that are less common in purely software-focused markets.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card technology jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
