Which technology companies sponsor Green Card visas in California?
California's largest technology employers, including Google, Apple, Meta, Intel, Salesforce, Adobe, and Nvidia, have established Green Card sponsorship programs and regularly file PERM labor certifications for qualifying roles. Beyond the major names, mid-size SaaS companies and semiconductor firms throughout the Bay Area and San Diego corridor also sponsor Green Cards, particularly for engineering and product roles where specialized skills are in demand.
Which cities in California have the most technology Green Card sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, covering San Jose, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, and San Francisco itself, accounts for the highest concentration of technology Green Card sponsorship activity in the state. Los Angeles and its surrounding tech corridor, including Culver City and Santa Monica, represent the second-largest cluster. San Diego is notable for its biotech and semiconductor sector, where sponsorship is also common for qualified engineers and researchers.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in California?
Software engineering, machine learning engineering, data science, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and product management roles are among the most commonly sponsored technology positions in California. These roles typically qualify under EB-2 (requiring an advanced degree or exceptional ability) or EB-3 (for professionals with a bachelor's degree). Employers generally initiate PERM labor certification when they cannot fill a position with a qualified U.S. worker after a documented recruitment process.
How do I find technology Green Card sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate lists technology jobs in California where employers have indicated Green Card sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to filter specifically for that combination rather than sifting through general job listings. Because sponsorship willingness is not always advertised on standard postings, using Migrate Mate to search California technology roles helps you identify employers actively open to sponsoring international candidates through employment-based Green Card pathways.
Are there California-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in the technology industry?
California's competitive technology hiring market means employers are generally more experienced with employment-based immigration processes, but it also means PERM recruitment steps must genuinely reflect a good-faith effort to hire locally before sponsorship proceeds. California's strong labor protections and active state labor agencies mean employers follow DOL prevailing wage determinations closely. Candidates with prior H-1B visa or L-1 visa status in California often have priority dates already accruing, which can affect their Green Card timeline under the employment-based preference system.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card technology jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
