Which technology companies in Oregon sponsor Green Card visas?
Intel's Hillsboro campus is one of Oregon's most active Green Card sponsors, consistently filing EB-2 and EB-3 petitions for engineers and researchers. Nike and Adidas, headquartered in the Portland metro area, sponsor technology and software roles as well. Portland-based software companies such as Daimler Trucks North America's tech division and various SaaS startups have also sponsored international workers, though sponsorship willingness varies significantly by employer size and hiring volume.
Which cities in Oregon have the most technology Green Card sponsorship jobs?
The Portland metro area, including Beaverton and Hillsboro, concentrates the large majority of Oregon's technology Green Card sponsorship activity. Hillsboro alone hosts Intel's massive manufacturing and R&D operations, which drive significant sponsorship volume. Portland proper supports a range of software and services companies. Outside the metro, Eugene has some technology presence tied to the University of Oregon, but sponsorship opportunities there are considerably fewer.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Oregon?
Roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field are the most common path for Green Card sponsorship. Software engineers, hardware engineers, semiconductor process engineers, data scientists, DevOps engineers, and cybersecurity specialists are regularly sponsored under EB-2 and EB-3 categories. Research-oriented positions at companies like Intel may also qualify for the EB-2 National Interest Waiver, though that pathway requires demonstrating broader benefit to U.S. interests, not just employer need.
How do I find technology Green Card sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, so you can search for technology roles in Oregon where employers have indicated Green Card sponsorship. This is more targeted than general job searching because sponsorship information is surfaced directly rather than requiring you to contact each employer separately. Migrate Mate is particularly useful for narrowing by both location and visa category simultaneously, which matters when Green Card sponsorship is a firm requirement for your job search.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in technology?
Oregon does not have state-level immigration programs, so all Green Card sponsorship follows federal PERM labor certification and USCIS petition processes. One practical consideration is that Intel's Hillsboro operations are heavily concentrated in semiconductor manufacturing, meaning sponsorship there skews toward hardware and process engineering rather than software. Oregon's tech sector outside of the Portland metro is smaller, so candidates targeting Green Card sponsorship should generally focus their search on Washington County and Multnomah County employers.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card technology jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
