Search Software Quality Engineer Jobs in TennesseeSoftware Quality Engineer Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies in Tennessee sponsor visas for software quality engineers?
Healthcare IT and enterprise software companies lead sponsorship activity in Tennessee. HCA Healthcare, Change Healthcare, and Asurion have filed H-1B visa petitions for quality engineering roles. Defense and federal contractors near Oak Ridge and Huntsville's neighboring corridor also hire software quality engineers. Mid-sized SaaS and fintech firms in Nashville's growing technology corridor round out the sponsorship picture, though volume varies year to year.
Which visa types are most common for software quality engineer roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software quality engineers in Tennessee, covering specialty occupation roles that require a relevant bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT can begin working while an H-1B petition is processed.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most software quality engineer sponsorship jobs?
Nashville generates the highest volume of software quality engineer sponsorship activity in Tennessee, driven by its healthcare IT and fintech sectors. Knoxville has a steady pipeline connected to Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee. Memphis sees demand from logistics technology and healthcare firms. Smaller hiring clusters exist in Brentwood and Franklin, where several enterprise software companies maintain regional headquarters.
How to find software quality engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse software quality engineer roles in Tennessee without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform surfaces employers actively hiring for this role across Nashville, Knoxville, and Memphis. Narrowing your search to Tennessee-based openings helps identify companies with a current sponsorship track record in software quality engineering.
Are there state-specific considerations for software quality engineers pursuing sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee has no state income tax on wages, which affects prevailing wage comparisons but does not change federal H-1B wage requirements. Employers must still meet Department of Labor prevailing wage levels for the specific job title and metro area. Nashville and Knoxville are classified as separate wage regions, so prevailing wage calculations differ between them. The University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University also feed local hiring pipelines, which can benefit candidates with academic or research backgrounds.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software quality engineer jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
