Which companies sponsor visas for engineering project managers in Texas?
Several large Texas-based employers have consistent records of sponsoring engineering project managers. In energy, ExxonMobil, Chevron Phillips Chemical, and LyondellBasell regularly file for technical management roles in the Houston area. In semiconductors and tech, Texas Instruments and Dell sponsor in the Dallas-Austin corridor. Defense and aerospace firms like Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Boeing also sponsor in the DFW and San Antonio markets, though cleared roles can add complications.
Which visa types are most common for engineering project manager roles in Texas?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for engineering project managers in Texas, as the role typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. L-1A and L-1B visas are also used when candidates transfer from a foreign affiliate. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may be eligible for TN visa status under the USMCA, depending on their specific role and credentials.
How to find engineering project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international candidates searching for visa sponsorship jobs, including engineering project manager roles in Texas. You can filter by state and job title to see employers actively advertising sponsored positions. Because sponsorship willingness is not always stated in standard job postings, a platform focused on international hiring like Migrate Mate significantly narrows the search compared to general job boards.
Which cities in Texas have the most engineering project manager sponsorship jobs?
Houston leads for engineering project manager sponsorship, driven by its concentration of energy, petrochemical, and construction firms. Dallas-Fort Worth is the second-largest market, with demand spread across aerospace, defense, telecom, and commercial construction. Austin has grown significantly due to semiconductor and tech expansion, including the Samsung fab project. San Antonio has a smaller but active market tied to military infrastructure and healthcare system engineering.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for engineering project manager visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons but does not change federal DOL wage requirements for H-1B petitions. The state's energy and infrastructure sectors often require project managers with industry-specific certifications such as PMP or PE licensure, which can strengthen a visa petition by reinforcing the specialty occupation argument. Texas also has several large research universities, including UT Austin and Texas A&M, that produce engineering talent and maintain employer pipelines relevant to international hiring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering project manager jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
