Which manufacturing companies sponsor H-2B visas in Texas?
Texas manufacturers filing H-2B petitions span several sub-sectors. Food processing operations in the Rio Grande Valley and Gulf Coast, chemical plant contractors in the Houston-Beaumont industrial corridor, and metal fabrication facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio areas have appeared in DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data. Sponsorship reflects documented seasonal or peak-load workforce needs, not ongoing hiring, so availability shifts by certification period.
Which cities in Texas have the most manufacturing H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Houston and the surrounding Gulf Coast industrial belt account for a significant share of Texas H-2B manufacturing filings, driven by petrochemical and refinery-support contractors. San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley see activity in food processing and agricultural product manufacturing. Dallas-Fort Worth contributes through metal fabrication and industrial equipment assembly. Smaller industrial hubs like Beaumont, Corpus Christi, and Laredo also appear in DOL disclosure records for manufacturing categories.
What types of manufacturing roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B manufacturing roles must be temporary, non-agricultural, and tied to a seasonal spike or one-time project need the employer cannot fill with U.S. workers. Common qualifying titles include assembler, production machine operator, packaging line worker, welding helper, and quality inspection laborer. Roles requiring four-year degrees generally fall outside H-2B eligibility. USCIS and DOL jointly evaluate whether the position and the temporary need genuinely meet the statutory criteria.
How do I find manufacturing H-2B sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate indexes verified H-2B employer filing history so you can filter specifically for Texas manufacturing sponsors rather than sorting through unverified postings. Search by industry category and state to surface companies that have previously certified H-2B Labor Condition Applications for production and plant roles. Because H-2B availability is tied to annual caps and certification windows, checking employer filing history on Migrate Mate gives you a factual starting point before outreach.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for H-2B manufacturing sponsorship?
Texas does not impose a state-level H-2B supplemental process, but the concentration of petrochemical and refinery contractors in the Gulf Coast region means many filings are project-based rather than seasonally recurring, which affects timeline predictability. Texas employers must still meet all federal H-2B requirements including prevailing wage compliance verified through the OFLC Wage Search tool and domestic worker recruitment through approved channels before USCIS will certify a petition.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B manufacturing jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
