INTRODUCTION
GeForce NOW is NVIDIA's cloud gaming platform, delivering ultra-low-latency, high-performance gameplay from the cloud to PCs, Macs, mobile devices, and beyond. The same streaming technologies powering GeForce NOW are advancing the future of AR/VR, AI inference, and connected mobility.
We're looking for a Senior Systems Software Engineer with strong C++ experience and practical knowledge of wireless networking to improve streaming performance on wireless networks on the next generation of use cases in automotive, robotics, and physical AI. This role is ideal for someone who understands 5G cellular connectivity, 5G core network concepts, Wi-Fi, modern networking protocols, and real-time streaming systems. Experience with automotive connectivity, connected vehicles, telematics, APIs, QNX, and Linux is also valuable.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build, develop, and optimize low-latency C/C++ software to improve real-time streaming over 5G, Wi-Fi, and other bandwidth-limited wireless networks. Use technologies such as WebRTC and modern transport protocols.
- Build connectivity solutions that integrate with cellular, Wi-Fi, and platform APIs while diagnosing anomalies using telemetry, packet captures, modem diagnostics, and user data.
- Analyze logs, packet captures, modem diagnostics, network telemetry, and user metrics to fix latency, system efficiency, handover, packet loss, and recovery issues.
- Develop network quality KPIs, automated test frameworks, and realistic wireless network simulations to validate streaming performance under challenging real-world conditions.
- Partner with cloud networking teams, automotive partners, wireless carriers, and platform engineers to deliver scalable streaming solutions, while mentoring engineers and advancing guidelines for wireless connectivity.
- Use data analysis and modeling tools to understand real-world network behavior and identify areas for improvement.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree, Ph.D., or equivalent experience in Computer Science, EE, or a closely related field.
- 8+ years of experience in wireless networking and software development.
- Hands-on experience with wireless communication technologies, including 5G, Wi-Fi, or satellite connectivity, with familiarity across modern 5G architectures and deployments.
- Familiarity with 5G core networks and practical 5G deployments across different spectrum, access, and network architectures.
- Strong hands-on experience in C/C++ software development, optimization, and debugging.
- Deep understanding of streaming and connectivity-related technologies, including RTP, WebRTC, WebSockets, QUIC, SCTP, STUN/TURN, ICE, and NAT Traversal.
- Experience debugging connectivity or streaming issues using event logs, captured network data, telemetry, and network diagnostics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across software, platform, modem, carrier, and network layers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with WebRTC, QUIC, RTP, adaptive streaming, congestion control, jitter buffering, packet loss recovery, or low-latency media transport.
- Experience with Android, iOS, Linux, QNX, embedded systems, 5G modems, automotive connectivity, telematics, or software-defined vehicles.
- Familiarity with interface bonding, multipath protocols, SD-WAN, VPNs, or network virtualization.
- Familiarity with SDN concepts such as control/data plane separation, traffic steering, policy-based routing, programmable networks, or network automation.
- Experience working with global ISPs, wireless service providers, carriers, or network equipment partners.

Which companies sponsor visas for software systems engineers in Texas?
Several large Texas-based employers have a documented history of sponsoring software systems engineers through H-1B visa and other work visas. These include Dell Technologies in Round Rock, Texas Instruments in Dallas, Samsung Austin Semiconductors, Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, and Amazon's Austin offices. Defense and aerospace contractors in the Dallas-Fort Worth area also file regularly, as do cloud and semiconductor firms expanding their Texas footprints.
Which visa types are most common for software systems engineer roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software systems engineers in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, systems engineering, or a related field. Employers also sponsor L-1B visas for intracompany transfers with specialized knowledge. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA, which does not require a lottery.
Which cities in Texas have the most software systems engineer sponsorship jobs?
Austin has the highest concentration of software systems engineer sponsorship roles, driven by major tech employers and a dense startup ecosystem. Dallas-Fort Worth follows closely, anchored by defense contractors, financial technology firms, and telecom companies. Houston adds additional volume through energy tech, aerospace, and NASA-adjacent contractors. San Antonio has a growing cybersecurity and defense tech cluster that also generates sponsorship activity in this role.
How to find software systems engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters software systems engineer roles in Texas by visa sponsorship status, so you're not sifting through listings that don't apply to you. You can browse by city, filter by employer type, and identify companies with active H-1B or other sponsorship histories. This saves significant time compared to manually researching which Texas employers are willing to sponsor.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for software systems engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage calculations used in Labor Condition Applications, and the Department of Labor sets wage levels by metropolitan area, so requirements differ between Austin, Dallas, and Houston. The state's large university system, including UT Austin and Texas A&M, produces a significant pipeline of international students on OPT who transition to H-1B sponsorship with Texas-based employers. Defense contractors in Texas may require security clearances, which can limit sponsorship eligibility for some visa holders.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software systems engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
