Which companies in Utah sponsor visas for data scientists?
Several Utah-based employers have a track record of sponsoring work visas for data scientists. Adobe's Lehi campus, Qualtrics in Provo, and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City are among the most active. Financial services firms like Goldman Sachs and health tech companies operating in the Salt Lake metro also appear regularly in Department of Labor sponsorship records for data science roles.
Which visa types are most common for data scientist jobs in Utah?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for data scientists in Utah, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Candidates with extraordinary research records may also see O-1A petitions filed by university or research employers. Australians working in Utah tech companies may encounter E-3 visa filings, and some multinational firms use L-1B transfers for data scientists moving from overseas offices.
How to find data scientist visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and lets you filter data scientist roles in Utah by visa sponsorship willingness, so you are not sorting through listings from employers who won't sponsor. The platform surfaces Utah employers, including those along the Wasatch Front tech corridor, that have a documented history of filing work visas for data science positions, saving meaningful time in your search.
Which cities in Utah have the most data scientist visa sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City accounts for the largest share of data scientist sponsorship activity in Utah, driven by its concentration of tech firms, health systems, and the University of Utah. Provo and Lehi, often called the Silicon Slopes corridor, are close behind, with companies like Qualtrics and Adobe headquartered there. Ogden has a smaller but growing presence through defense contractors and logistics firms with data science teams.
Are there state-specific considerations for data scientists pursuing visa sponsorship in Utah?
Utah's university pipeline is worth understanding. Graduates from the University of Utah and Brigham Young University fill many local data science roles, so international candidates benefit from demonstrating specialized skills or domain experience that distinguishes them. Utah has no state-level immigration program, so all sponsorship flows through federal categories. Employers in regulated industries like healthcare and finance tend to have more established sponsorship processes than early-stage startups.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data scientist jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
