Which companies sponsor visas for data engineering managers in Washington?
Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta are among the most active H-1B visa sponsors for data engineering manager roles in Washington. Beyond the large tech employers, companies like Tableau (owned by Salesforce), Expedia, and T-Mobile have filed labor condition applications for senior data engineering positions in the state. Mid-sized SaaS companies and cloud infrastructure firms in the Seattle metro also sponsor regularly, though less predictably than the major tech employers.
Which visa types are most common for data engineering manager roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for data engineering managers in Washington, given the role's requirement for a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field such as computer science or information systems. Australian citizens sometimes use the E-3 visa instead, which has no lottery and a faster timeline. Candidates already holding L-1 visa status through intracompany transfers are also common in Washington's multinational tech companies.
Which cities in Washington have the most data engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and Redmond account for the large majority of data engineering manager sponsorship activity in Washington. Bellevue and Kirkland have grown significantly as engineering employers have expanded east of Lake Washington. Smaller but active pockets exist in Bothell and Issaquah, particularly among mid-sized tech and healthcare data companies. Outside the greater Seattle metro, Spokane and Tacoma have limited but growing data engineering hiring activity.
How to find data engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters data engineering manager roles in Washington by visa sponsorship availability, so you're not sorting through postings that won't support work authorization. The platform focuses on employers with a documented history of sponsoring H-1B and other work visas for senior data engineering and management positions, which is particularly relevant in Washington given the competitive nature of the Seattle tech market.
Are there any Washington-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for data engineering managers?
Washington's high concentration of large tech employers means prevailing wage determinations for data engineering manager roles are typically benchmarked against competitive Pacific Northwest market rates, which are among the higher tiers nationally. This can work in candidates' favor since qualifying wages for H-1B compliance tend to align with what these employers already pay. The University of Washington also produces a steady pipeline of graduate-level candidates, which means competition for sponsored roles at Seattle-area companies is significant.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data engineering manager jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
