Which companies sponsor visas for quality assurance engineers in Washington?
Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, Expedia, and T-Mobile are among the Washington employers that have filed Labor Condition Applications for quality assurance engineering roles. Smaller software companies and defense contractors in the Puget Sound region also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as repeat sponsors for QA positions. Sponsorship patterns vary by team and hiring cycle, so checking recent LCA filings gives the clearest picture.
Which visa types are most common for quality assurance engineer roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for quality assurance engineers in Washington, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Some employers also use the L-1B for intracompany transfers into QA roles. Candidates from Australia, Canada, or Mexico may have access to the E-3 or TN visa categories respectively, which bypass the H-1B lottery.
Which cities in Washington have the most quality assurance engineer sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and Redmond account for the largest share of sponsored QA engineering positions in Washington, driven by the dense concentration of technology companies headquartered there. Bellevue has grown significantly as a secondary tech hub, with several major employers maintaining large engineering offices. Kirkland and Bothell also appear in sponsorship filings, primarily linked to tech and biotech employers operating in the broader Eastside corridor.
How to find quality assurance engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability and state, making it straightforward to browse quality assurance engineer roles in Washington without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Because QA roles vary widely in seniority and specialization, using Migrate Mate's filters for location and role type helps narrow results to positions that match your background and visa situation.
Are there state-specific considerations for quality assurance engineers seeking sponsorship in Washington?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects how employers structure compensation packages relative to prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules. The state's strong university pipeline from the University of Washington supplies a large domestic QA talent pool, meaning sponsored roles tend to require specialized experience in areas like test automation, embedded systems, or cloud infrastructure rather than generalist QA skills. Boeing's presence also means aerospace-specific QA certifications can differentiate candidates in that sector.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored quality assurance engineer jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
