Which companies sponsor visas for senior data science engineers in Washington?
Microsoft and Amazon are the most consistent sponsors for senior data science engineer roles in Washington, given their scale and established immigration programs. Beyond those two, Expedia, Tableau, T-Mobile, and Salesforce have active records of H-1B sponsorship in this role category. Biotech and healthcare companies in the greater Seattle area, including Adaptive Biotechnologies, also compete for senior data science talent and have sponsored visas in the past.
Which visa types are most common for senior data science engineer roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa for senior data science engineers in Washington. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation because it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as statistics, computer science, or a related discipline. Candidates with extraordinary achievement may pursue the O-1A. Australians may be eligible for the E-3, which offers a similar pathway with no lottery requirement.
Which cities in Washington have the most senior data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and Redmond account for the majority of senior data science engineer sponsorship jobs in Washington. Seattle's South Lake Union and Eastlake neighborhoods host a high concentration of tech and biotech employers, while Redmond is home to Microsoft's headquarters. Bellevue is a growing secondary hub, particularly as Amazon and other firms expand there. Smaller clusters exist in Kirkland and Bothell, often tied to cloud and life sciences employers.
How to find senior data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles offering visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify senior data science engineer positions in Washington without sorting through employers unlikely to sponsor. You can filter by state and role to see active listings from companies with a history of H-1B and other sponsorship activity in the Seattle-Redmond corridor. Focusing your search on employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications in Washington is a practical starting point.
Are there state-specific considerations for senior data science engineers seeking sponsorship in Washington?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects how prevailing wage calculations translate into take-home pay relative to other tech hubs. The Department of Labor sets prevailing wages for senior data science engineer roles at the county level, and King County wages are among the highest in the country for this occupation. The University of Washington's strong graduate programs in statistics and computer science also create a well-established pipeline that local employers actively recruit from.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored senior data science engineer jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
