Which companies sponsor visas for civil project engineers in Wisconsin?
Engineering and infrastructure firms with a track record of H-1B sponsorship in Wisconsin include AECOM, WSP USA, Strand Associates, Graef, and Ayres Associates. Large construction and environmental consultancies tend to sponsor more consistently than smaller regional firms, as they have established HR and legal processes for managing visa petitions for civil project engineer roles.
Which visa types are most common for civil project engineers in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for civil project engineers in Wisconsin, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Some Canadian and Mexican nationals working in this field pursue TN status under the USMCA, which lists engineers as a qualifying profession and does not require a lottery or advance petition.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most civil project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Madison and Milwaukee account for the largest concentration of civil project engineer sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin. Madison draws demand from state agency projects and university campus expansion, while Milwaukee's infrastructure investment and commercial development keep engineering firms actively hiring. Green Bay and Waukesha also have a presence, particularly for transportation and utilities work.
How to find civil project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find civil project engineer roles in Wisconsin where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. You can narrow results by location and role type to focus on Wisconsin-based positions. This is more targeted than searching general boards, where sponsorship willingness is rarely disclosed upfront.
Are there state-specific factors that affect civil project engineer sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's active Wisconsin Department of Transportation program and ongoing municipal water infrastructure upgrades create sustained demand for civil project engineers, which supports sponsorship volume. Employers filing H-1B petitions must meet DOL prevailing wage requirements tied to the specific Wisconsin metro area and job duties. Engineering graduates from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Milwaukee also provide a pipeline that firms in this state are accustomed to hiring from internationally.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored civil project engineer jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
