Which companies in Wisconsin sponsor visas for IT engineers?
Several large Wisconsin employers have established track records of H-1B sponsorship for IT engineers. Fiserv in Milwaukee is among the most active, alongside Epic Systems in Verona, which hires extensively for technical roles. Rockwell Automation, Northwestern Mutual, and Exact Sciences also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data as Wisconsin-based sponsors for IT engineering positions.
What visa types are most common for IT engineer roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for IT engineers in Wisconsin, as most roles qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on OPT or STEM OPT may also find employers willing to sponsor an H-1B cap-subject petition. L-1B visas appear for intracompany transfers with specialized technical knowledge at multinationals with Wisconsin offices.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most IT engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is the primary hub, home to major financial technology and manufacturing firms that sponsor IT engineering roles regularly. Madison follows closely, anchored by Epic Systems and a dense cluster of healthcare technology companies. Green Bay has a smaller but active market, particularly in logistics and insurance technology. Verona and the broader Madison metro are also worth targeting given Epic's scale and influence on the regional tech hiring market.
How to find it engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa-sponsored IT engineer roles, with filters for state and job category so you can focus your search on Wisconsin employers. Because sponsorship willingness is not always advertised clearly, using a platform like Migrate Mate that surfaces roles from confirmed or likely sponsors saves significant time compared to applying broadly and asking about sponsorship later in the process.
Are there state-specific considerations for IT engineers seeking sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin does not have a state-level immigration program, so federal H-1B prevailing wage requirements set by the Department of Labor govern what sponsors must pay IT engineers. The University of Wisconsin system produces a steady pipeline of international students on OPT, which means some Wisconsin employers are already familiar with visa processes. Healthcare IT is a particularly strong sector given Epic Systems' global reach, making Dane County an especially practical target for IT engineers with health informatics backgrounds.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored it engineer jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
