Manager-IT Engineering Cloud Systems
Summary Statement:
The IT Manager will be responsible for developing maintenance and growth plans, creating annual and project budgets, managing the IT staff day to day operations, and keeping the executive team up to date on the latest technologies to keep Penske moving forward.
What You Will Be Doing:
As a Penske Manager of IT Engineering – Cloud Systems, you will be working with and innovating Penske's cutting-edge Cloud environment with a team of industry leading experts. You will lead the Cloud Engineering teams and support staff through a diverse range of projects. You will be responsible for the reliability, performance, recoverability, and security of the corporate AWS, GCP, and OCI Cloud environments and the underlying team that manages and supports the environment. You will be keeping Penske updated with the latest technology and knowledge from the industry and implementing these changes across the entire organization.
Penske Responsibilities:
- Maintain and recommend information technology strategies, policies, and procedures
- Manage staff, including recruiting, selecting, onboarding, training, coaching, and supervising associate performance.
- Oversee team performance on enterprise projects by coordinating resources and aligning objectives.
- Enable faster and smarter business processes and implement analytics for meaningful insights.
- Maintain reliability, performance, recoverability, and security of the corporate Cloud environment.
- Oversee daily operations of design, configuration, implementation, support, troubleshooting, maintenance, performance monitoring and the development of specialized procedures relating to the use of the corporate cloud computing environment.
- Work closely with technical staff on best practice development and implementation.
- Ensure the functional, cost effectiveness and timely support of systems on a 24x7 basis.
- Plan for growth and provide projections for business plan.
- Assess need for any system reconfigurations and execute them if required.
- Research and implement new open-source and commercial tools, technologies and methodologies.
- Serve as thought leader and final decision maker able to drive team to conclusions regarding technical solutions.
- Comfort working under pressure with evolving priorities and deadlines.
- Project management and leadership of technical teams to deliver projects on time while working with business stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of services.
- Proactive leadership, looking for a leader that doesn’t wait for the problems, rather one that will identify opportunities and formulate positive outcomes.
- Comfort in spanning teams and working with other responsible parties to drive positive outcomes to business requests.
- Understands what it means to be customer focused and that outcomes can take negotiation and understanding with the ability to balance what is being requested to what we are practically able to deliver.

Penske Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field required. If no degree, then at least 5 years of information technology management experience required.
- 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience highly preferred.
- 5+ years leading/supervising multiple enterprise level IT Infrastructure projects.
- Expertise in creating, analyzing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems.
- Expertise in systems infrastructure and architecture, including:
- Cloud Platform & Tenant Management
- Expertise in AWS cloud environments
- Familiarity with other cloud providers such as GCP, and OCI
- Expertise in S3, EC2, Kubernetes, Tanzu, EKS, Terraform, GitOps, Networking, Automation, Scripting, Observability, Backup, Monitoring.
- Deployment of scalable, resilient, infrastructure with a strong commitment to uptime, performance, and responsiveness to business SLA’s
- Infrastructure management of Kubernetes service offerings
- Linux infrastructure support, deployment, and security.
- Multi-cloud integrations, we have services that span our cloud tenants, familiarity with integrating services, providing guidance to engineering teams for execution and utilizing your experts to provide a consistent path for Penske operations.
- Backup, DR, and high availability experience utilizing both native tooling and vendor tooling to promote a durable infrastructure, driving innovation for resilience and scale.
- Expertise in monitoring, alerting, and business process to mitigate faults and enable an efficient 24x7 support team for the cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with cloud migrations, moving/spanning accounts, migrating services, connecting tenants and security principles with these needs.
- Strong problem solving and communication skills required.
- Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production environment.
- Required 5-10% travel.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

This is a hybrid work environment where the Manager will be expected to be in office a minimum of 2 days a week and as needed.
There are expectations of being available 24x7 for when emergencies and outages arise, you will be responsible to be responsive to these events when they occur.
This is a professional work environment, business casual attire is expected.
