Which companies sponsor visas for IT engineers in North Carolina?
North Carolina's largest IT engineer visa sponsors include Bank of America and Wells Fargo in Charlotte, Cisco and IBM in Research Triangle Park, and Lenovo's North American headquarters in Morrisville. Which visa types are most common for IT engineer roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for IT engineers in North Carolina, used by employers across Charlotte's financial technology sector and the Research Triangle's technology companies. L-1B visas appear frequently when multinational companies like Cisco or IBM transfer engineers with specialized product knowledge from overseas offices. O-1 visas are less common but do apply to engineers with documented exceptional achievements. Canadian and Mexican nationals working as IT engineers may also qualify under the TN visa category.

Charlotte is the second-largest market, particularly for IT engineers working within financial services and enterprise infrastructure. Morrisville and Durham also see consistent sponsorship activity from companies like Lenovo, Red Hat, and Duke University Health System.
