Which companies sponsor visas for IT engineers in Oregon?
Intel is Oregon's largest sponsor of IT engineer visas, with its Hillsboro campus filing hundreds of H-1B petitions annually for systems, network, and infrastructure roles. Nike, Daimler Trucks North America, and Precision Castparts also sponsor IT engineers in the Portland metro area. Smaller cloud and semiconductor firms in the Silicon Forest corridor round out the sponsoring employer pool for this role.
Which visa types are most common for IT engineer roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa for IT engineers in Oregon, covering roles in systems administration, network engineering, and IT infrastructure. Australian nationals working in these roles may qualify for the E-3, which has no lottery and is available year-round. Candidates already holding TN status under USMCA may also be eligible if they hold a qualifying Canadian or Mexican engineering credential and their role meets the classification requirements.
Which cities in Oregon have the most IT engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland and Hillsboro account for the large majority of IT engineer visa sponsorship activity in Oregon. Hillsboro specifically is home to Intel's largest U.S. semiconductor manufacturing site, making it a concentration point for IT infrastructure and systems engineering roles. Beaverton, where Nike is headquartered, is a secondary hub. Eugene and Bend have smaller tech presences but see less sponsorship activity for IT-specific positions.
How to find it engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters IT engineer jobs in Oregon specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving you from sifting through postings that won't support your immigration status. Search by role and state to see active openings from employers with a documented history of sponsoring IT engineers in Oregon. Migrate Mate also surfaces employer details that help you assess sponsorship likelihood before you apply.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for IT engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Oregon's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B IT engineer roles are benchmarked to the Portland-Hillsboro-Vancouver metro area, which reflects the concentration of large tech and semiconductor employers there. Intel's heavy presence has created a strong pipeline from Oregon State University and Portland State University, meaning employers in this region are familiar with international hiring processes. IT engineers in semiconductor-adjacent roles may also find more sponsorship openness than those in generalist positions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored it engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
