Which companies sponsor visas for welders in Wyoming?
Oilfield services companies such as Halliburton and Baker Hughes have sponsored welder positions in Wyoming, as have pipeline contractors and industrial fabrication firms operating in the Powder River Basin and Green River Basin. Mining operations around Gillette and Rock Springs also hire welders for equipment maintenance and fabrication work. Sponsorship activity tends to follow energy sector project cycles, so availability shifts with commodity markets.
Which visa types are most common for welder roles in Wyoming?
The H-2B visa is the most common pathway for foreign welders in Wyoming, covering temporary non-agricultural workers when employers can demonstrate a shortage of qualified U.S. workers. For more specialized or supervisory welding roles tied to specialty occupation criteria, some employers pursue H-1B visa sponsorship, though this is less common for trade-level positions. TN visas apply to eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles.
Which cities in Wyoming have the most welder sponsorship jobs?
Casper sees the highest concentration of welder sponsorship activity as Wyoming's largest energy services hub, followed by Gillette, which supports the Powder River Basin coal and oilfield industries. Rock Springs attracts welding demand tied to trona mining and the Green River Basin energy sector. Cheyenne, while more government-oriented, has some industrial fabrication employers that periodically sponsor skilled tradespeople.
How to find welder visa sponsorship jobs in Wyoming?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for visa-sponsored positions, including welder roles in Wyoming. You can filter by state and trade category to surface employers with active sponsorship history in the energy and industrial sectors. Because Wyoming's market is project-driven, checking Migrate Mate regularly gives you visibility into openings tied to new pipeline, mining, or oilfield service contracts as they come to market.
Are there any state-specific considerations for welders seeking visa sponsorship in Wyoming?
Wyoming follows federal prevailing wage standards under the Davis-Bacon Act for publicly funded projects, which employers must meet when sponsoring foreign workers. Welders in Wyoming typically need AWS certification or equivalent credentials, and many oilfield employers require ASME or API pipe welding qualifications. The state has no personal income tax, which affects take-home pay calculations. Wyoming's remote work sites may also factor into housing and logistics arrangements negotiated at the hiring stage.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored welder jobs in Wyoming?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
