How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Credentialing Coordinator
Healthcare experience strengthens your case
Document experience with provider enrollment, license verification, or healthcare compliance. This specialized healthcare knowledge demonstrates the role requires specific expertise beyond general administration.
Target hospitals and health systems
Large hospitals, health networks, and medical groups regularly sponsor visas for credentialing positions. They understand the specialized nature of healthcare compliance work.
Highlight regulatory knowledge
Emphasize familiarity with Joint Commission standards, CMS requirements, state licensing boards, and credentialing software like CACTUS or CredentialStream to show specialized expertise.
Business or healthcare administration degrees work
While health administration is ideal, business administration, public health, or related degrees can qualify if combined with healthcare credentialing experience or certifications.
Consider NAMSS certification

What degree do I need for H-1B sponsorship as a Credentialing Coordinator?
Business administration, health administration, public health, or related degrees typically qualify. The key is showing your degree relates to healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, or business administration. Some employers accept general bachelor's degrees if you have significant healthcare credentialing experience or relevant certifications like NAMSS.
Do Credentialing Coordinators get H-1B approvals?
Yes, when positioned correctly as specialty occupation roles requiring knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and credentialing processes. Success depends on emphasizing the technical expertise needed for provider enrollment, license verification, and compliance with complex healthcare regulations rather than general administrative tasks.
Can I get sponsored without direct credentialing experience?
It's challenging but possible if you have related healthcare administration, compliance, or regulatory experience. Emphasize any background with healthcare operations, provider relations, or regulatory documentation. Consider pursuing NAMSS certification or similar credentials to demonstrate commitment to the field and specialized knowledge.
What makes credentialing a specialty occupation for visa purposes?
The role requires specialized knowledge of healthcare regulations, Joint Commission standards, state licensing requirements, and credentialing software systems. You must understand complex provider enrollment processes, malpractice verification, and compliance documentation that goes beyond general administrative work.
Which healthcare employers typically sponsor Credentialing Coordinator visas?
Large hospital systems, academic medical centers, and multi-specialty physician groups are most likely to sponsor. These employers understand the specialized nature of credentialing work and have experience with visa processes. Medical staffing companies and healthcare consulting firms also sponsor these positions regularly.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Credentialing Coordinator jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
