Target companies with complex supply chains
Amazon, Walmart, FedEx, and UPS regularly sponsor logistics roles. Manufacturing companies like Boeing, Ford, and General Motors also need supply chain optimization specialists for their global operations.
Emphasize analytical and technical skills
Highlight proficiency in SAP, Oracle WMS, Tableau, or Python for supply chain analytics. Technical skills in demand forecasting and optimization algorithms strengthen specialty occupation arguments significantly.
Focus on degree-specific requirements
Most successful H-1B cases involve roles requiring logistics, supply chain, industrial engineering, or operations research degrees. Avoid positions accepting any business degree without specialization.
Document quantifiable supply chain impact
Prepare examples of cost reduction, inventory optimization, or delivery time improvements. USCIS values evidence that the role requires specialized knowledge to manage complex logistics operations.
Consider PERM for senior positions
Logistics Manager and Senior Planner roles often qualify for PERM sponsorship. These positions typically require 2-5 years experience plus specialized supply chain knowledge.
Highlight global coordination experience
Multinational companies value experience coordinating international shipments, customs regulations, and cross-border supply chains. This demonstrates the specialized knowledge USCIS looks for in approvals.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Logistics Planner positions qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, when the role requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field and involves complex analytical work. Entry-level coordinator positions may not qualify, but planning roles involving forecasting, optimization, and strategic supply chain decisions typically meet specialty occupation requirements.
What degree do I need for logistics sponsorship?
A bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, operations research, industrial engineering, or business with supply chain concentration works best. Pure business or general management degrees may face challenges unless the role specifically requires logistics expertise and the employer can justify the specialization requirement.
Which companies sponsor logistics professionals most often?
Major retailers (Amazon, Walmart, Target), logistics providers (FedEx, UPS, DHL), manufacturers (Boeing, Ford, 3M), and consulting firms (Accenture, Deloitte) regularly sponsor. Companies with complex global supply chains and dedicated logistics departments tend to have established sponsorship programs.
Can I get PERM sponsorship as a Logistics Planner?
Yes, especially for senior planner or logistics analyst roles requiring 2-5 years experience. PERM works well when the position involves strategic supply chain design, vendor relationship management, or cross-functional coordination that demonstrates the need for specialized U.S. worker skills.
What if my logistics degree is from outside the U.S.?
Foreign degrees need credential evaluation to confirm U.S. equivalency. Supply chain and logistics programs from recognized international universities typically receive positive evaluations. Include any professional certifications like APICS CSCP or CLTD to strengthen your specialty occupation case during the petition process.
How to find Logistics Planner jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Logistics Planner jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international candidates with sponsoring employers. Focus on large logistics companies, freight forwarders, manufacturing firms, and e-commerce businesses that commonly sponsor H-1B visa, TN visa, and other work visas for supply chain professionals. These employers actively seek skilled logistics planners to optimize their operations.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Logistics Planner jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
