Pet Groomer Jobs in USA with Visa Sponsorship
Pet groomer visa sponsorship is challenging because most positions don't require a bachelor's degree, making them ineligible for H-1B classification. However, specialized grooming roles at veterinary clinics or animal hospitals may qualify if they require formal certification in animal care, grooming science, or veterinary assistance programs. For detailed occupation requirements, see the O*NET profile.

How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Pet Groomer
Target veterinary clinics over pet stores
Veterinary practices are more likely to sponsor visas for groomers with specialized training in medical grooming, pre-surgical prep, or handling animals with health conditions requiring specific expertise.
Emphasize specialized certifications
Highlight certifications from recognized programs like Nash Academy or grooming schools that combine animal health, behavior, and advanced techniques beyond basic bathing and trimming services.
Consider grooming instructor positions
Teaching roles at pet grooming schools often require formal education and specialized knowledge, making them more likely to qualify for H-1B sponsorship than entry-level grooming positions.
Focus on mobile grooming businesses
Mobile grooming services requiring business management skills, route optimization, and customer service expertise may qualify if combined with formal business education or specialized training programs.
Explore specialty grooming niches
Show grooming, competition preparation, or breed-specific grooming services often require advanced training and specialized knowledge that could support a visa sponsorship case with proper documentation.
Document your formal training
Maintain records of all grooming certifications, animal handling courses, and continuing education credits to demonstrate the specialized knowledge required for your specific grooming expertise and techniques.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do pet groomers need a college degree for H-1B sponsorship?
Most basic pet grooming positions don't require a bachelor's degree, making them ineligible for H-1B classification. However, specialized roles in veterinary clinics or teaching positions at grooming schools may qualify if they require formal education in animal science, veterinary technology, or business management. The job posting must specify degree requirements.
What certifications help pet groomers get visa sponsorship?
Certifications from recognized programs like Nash Academy, grooming schools accredited by the National Board of Certification for Professional Dog Groomers, or veterinary assistant programs strengthen sponsorship cases. International certifications in show grooming or breed-specific techniques also demonstrate specialized knowledge beyond basic grooming skills that could support H-1B eligibility.
Can mobile pet groomers get H-1B sponsorship?
Mobile grooming positions rarely qualify for H-1B unless combined with business management responsibilities and formal education requirements. The role would need to involve route optimization, customer relationship management, or business operations requiring specialized knowledge. Most mobile grooming positions focus on hands-on grooming services rather than degree-level professional work.
What types of employers sponsor pet groomers?
Veterinary hospitals and specialty animal care facilities are most likely to sponsor groomers, particularly for roles involving medical grooming or pre-surgical preparation. Pet grooming schools occasionally sponsor instructors with formal education. Large pet care chains and mobile grooming franchises typically don't sponsor due to the hands-on nature of most positions.
Are there alternative visas for international pet groomers?
The O-1 visa could work for groomers with extraordinary ability demonstrated through show championships, international recognition, or published expertise in breed standards. The E-2 investor visa allows opening a grooming business with substantial investment. TN status may apply for Canadians or Mexicans in management roles at grooming facilities, though basic grooming isn't a NAFTA profession.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Pet Groomer jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
