Target industries with established sponsorship track records
Large manufacturers, global retailers, and third-party logistics companies file H-1B petitions for Supply Chain Directors regularly. Focusing your search on these sectors significantly improves your odds of finding an employer comfortable with the sponsorship process.
Lead with operations impact, not just credentials
Employers sponsoring a Supply Chain Director want proof you've moved the needle, not just managed a team. Quantify cost reductions, lead time improvements, and supplier consolidations upfront. Concrete results make the sponsorship conversation much easier to start.
Understand the LCA requirement before you negotiate
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor before your H-1B petition is submitted. The LCA certifies the offered wage meets prevailing wage levels, so understanding this step helps you anticipate the timeline and avoid surprises.
An advanced degree strengthens your H-1B petition considerably
A master's degree in supply chain management, operations research, or an MBA makes your specialty occupation case significantly cleaner. USCIS scrutinizes director-level roles, and a directly related graduate degree reduces the risk of a Request for Evidence.
Consider the O-1A if your experience is exceptional
Supply Chain Directors with published research, industry awards, board memberships, or documented contributions to major cost-saving initiatives may qualify for the O-1A visa. This pathway bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and is worth exploring with an immigration attorney.
Browse Migrate Mate to find sponsors who have filed before
Not every employer advertising a Supply Chain Director role has sponsored a visa before. Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers with active sponsorship histories, so you spend less time approaching companies that will decline before the conversation gets started.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Supply Chain Director qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS requires that the position normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. Supply Chain Director roles tied to operations research, engineering, or logistics management with a corresponding degree requirement consistently meet this standard. Generic director roles where any business degree qualifies can face more scrutiny, so the job description and degree requirement must align precisely.
What degree field do employers typically require for H-1B sponsorship in this role?
Most sponsored Supply Chain Director positions require a degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, operations research, logistics, or an MBA with a supply chain concentration. A degree in a directly related technical or analytical field strengthens the specialty occupation argument considerably. General business or liberal arts degrees, even at the graduate level, may require additional supporting evidence from the employer to satisfy USCIS.
How likely is it that my H-1B petition will be approved for a Supply Chain Director role?
Approval rates for director-level operations and supply chain roles are generally strong when the job description clearly requires a specific degree and the applicant holds that degree. Requests for Evidence are more common when the role description is broad or the degree field is loosely related. Working with an experienced immigration attorney to draft a detailed specialty occupation support letter from your employer meaningfully reduces denial risk.
Can I find Supply Chain Director roles with visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate?
Yes. Migrate Mate lists Supply Chain Director positions from employers who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas, so you can identify real opportunities rather than applying speculatively. The platform is built specifically for international candidates who need sponsorship, which removes the guesswork of figuring out whether a given employer will engage with the visa process.
Does years of experience substitute for a degree when applying for an H-1B as a Supply Chain Director?
USCIS does not allow work experience to substitute for a degree in the same way for H-1B visa specialty occupation purposes as it does for some other visa categories. However, if you hold a three-year bachelor's degree or a two-year associate's degree, relevant post-degree work experience can sometimes be combined with additional coursework to establish equivalency. An immigration attorney should evaluate your specific educational background before you begin the application process.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Supply Chain Director jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
