Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Trade Marketing Manager
Lead with brand and channel experience
Trade marketing sits at the intersection of brand strategy and retail execution. Emphasize experience managing shopper marketing programs, category management, or promotional campaigns with named retail partners. This specificity signals specialty occupation eligibility to visa-sponsoring employers.
Target consumer goods companies first
FMCG companies like beverage, personal care, and packaged food brands sponsor trade marketing roles more consistently than retail employers. These organizations have established immigration counsel and recurring international hiring, which makes the sponsorship process faster and more predictable.
Frame your degree as directly relevant
H-1B and E-3 specialty occupation approval requires your degree field to match the role. A marketing, business, or communications degree supports most trade marketing applications. If your degree is in another field, document relevant coursework and professional training carefully.
Prepare to explain the specialty occupation case
Some employers hesitate on sponsorship because trade marketing sounds broad. Come prepared to explain that the role requires a specific marketing degree and advanced analytical skills, distinguishing it from general sales or coordinator positions that may not qualify as specialty occupations.
Australians should ask about E-3 specifically
Australian citizens can use the E-3 visa instead of entering the H-1B lottery. The E-3 has no annual cap and can be filed at a U.S. consulate in Australia without waiting for an October start date, giving you a significant scheduling advantage over H-1B candidates.
Document cross-functional impact in your resume
Trade marketing managers work across sales, supply chain, and brand teams. Quantifying outcomes from joint business planning, sell-in campaigns, or retailer partnerships demonstrates the complexity employers need to justify sponsorship and supports the specialty occupation classification with USCIS.

Find Trade Marketing Manager JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does a Trade Marketing Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, trade marketing manager positions generally qualify as specialty occupations when the job requires a bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, business administration, or a related field. USCIS looks at whether a specific degree is a standard entry requirement for the role, not just a preference. Job descriptions that list a degree as required rather than preferred significantly strengthen the petition. Roles emphasizing category management, shopper insights, and strategic planning carry the strongest cases.
Which employers are most likely to sponsor a Trade Marketing Manager?
Consumer packaged goods companies, beverage manufacturers, personal care brands, and large retail agency groups sponsor trade marketing roles most consistently. These employers have dedicated HR infrastructure and immigration counsel accustomed to H-1B and E-3 filings. Smaller brands or regional distributors may be willing but lack internal experience with sponsorship. Browse Migrate Mate to filter specifically for trade marketing roles at verified sponsoring employers, which saves significant time in your search.
Can I get an H-1B for a Trade Marketing Manager role if my degree is not in marketing?
It depends on how closely your degree relates to the position. USCIS accepts degrees in business administration, communications, or consumer behavior as supporting specialty occupation status for trade marketing roles. If your degree is in an unrelated field, you can supplement with a combination of coursework and progressive work experience, though the petition faces higher scrutiny. An immigration attorney can assess whether a three-for-one experience substitution applies to your situation.
What is the H-1B approval rate for marketing roles, and does trade marketing face more scrutiny?
Marketing occupations see moderate USCIS approval rates, generally in the range of 80 to 90 percent when petitions are well-documented. Trade marketing can attract additional scrutiny if USCIS determines the duties overlap with non-specialty sales or coordinator work. The strongest petitions clearly distinguish strategic responsibilities, such as joint business planning, promotional ROI analysis, and cross-functional campaign management, from execution-level tasks that a non-degree holder could perform.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take for a Trade Marketing Manager starting a new job?
For cap-subject H-1B petitions, the standard timeline runs from lottery registration in March to an October 1 start date, assuming selection. Premium processing shortens USCIS adjudication to 15 business days but does not accelerate the October start. If you are already in H-1B status and changing employers, your new employer can file an H-1B transfer and you can begin work once USCIS receives the petition, with no need to wait for approval.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Trade Marketing Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
