Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human
Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.
This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk.
Overview
Okta is looking for a Director, Demand Strategy & Growth to lead our Growth Lab and help build the next generation of our demand engine. This role will focus on creating the strategy, operating model, and scalable programs that move us toward a true signal-based demand engine—one that uses intent, business triggers, account intelligence, and engagement data to drive more precise targeting, better timing, and stronger pipeline outcomes.
This leader will sit at the intersection of demand generation, sales, marketing operations, field marketing, and growth strategy. Rather than running disconnected tests, this role is responsible for building the underlying architecture for how signal-based programs are identified, activated, measured, and scaled across the business.
The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of strategic thinking, operational discipline, and demand generation expertise, with a proven ability to turn insight into repeatable pipeline impact.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Growth Strategy: Define the vision and roadmap for Okta’s Growth Lab, building the foundation for a signal-based demand engine that improves targeting, activation, and pipeline efficiency.
- Signal-Based Program Development: Identify the highest-value business triggers, intent signals, and account-level indicators, then translate them into scalable growth plays that can be deployed across teams and segments.
- Global Target Account Strategy: Lead the development and ongoing optimization of Okta’s global target account list strategy, defining how target accounts are identified, tiered, prioritized, and refreshed using firmographic, technographic, intent, engagement, and business trigger data.
- Demand Engine Architecture: Build the frameworks, processes, and activation models that operationalize signals across outbound, ABM, digital, field, and sales-led motions.
- Pipeline Impact: Create and scale growth programs that improve account engagement, pipeline creation, conversion, and sales efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Execution: Partner closely with regional sales leaders, field marketing, growth product marketing, strategy and operations, marketing operations, and business development teams to embed signal-based motions into go-to-market execution.
- Measurement & Optimization: Establish clear success metrics, evaluate performance, and use data to refine programs, improve ROI, and scale the most effective plays.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for building and operationalizing strategic growth programs with speed, rigor, and strong cross-functional alignment.
- Executive Alignment: Communicate strategy, progress, and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders, building buy-in for new approaches and influencing broader demand generation strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES
- 10–15+ years of relevant growth and demand generation experience: Proven success leading strategic growth, demand generation, ABM, or outbound programs in a high-growth B2B SaaS environment. Previous experience in a sales organization a plus.
- Signal-Based Marketing Expertise: Deep understanding of intent data, business triggers, account signals, and signal-based marketing strategies, with the ability to translate insight into scalable go-to-market action.
- Modern GTM Tech Fluency: Hands-on familiarity with tools and workflows across the modern growth stack, including Clay, 6sense, Salesforce, Marketo, Common Room, and similar platforms. Past experience in leveraging agentic technology in a GTM context is a plus.
- Scalable Program Builder: Demonstrated success building repeatable demand programs and growth motions that drive measurable pipeline impact and can scale across teams, segments, or regions.
- Cross-Channel Activation Strength: Deep understanding of how to orchestrate coordinated plays across marketing and sales channels to improve targeting, timing, and account engagement.
- Operational and Analytical Rigor: Strong operational discipline and analytical capability, with experience using data to guide decisions, improve performance, and deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Framework and Process Design: Experience building processes, playbooks, and operating frameworks that enable growth programs to scale effectively across teams and geographies.
- Leadership and Influence: Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align cross-functional teams and influence senior partners.
LOCATION & REQUIREMENTS
- Based in Okta’s Bellevue office (In-office requirement).
- BS/BA degree required.

Target companies with a sponsorship track record
Check OFLC disclosure data to confirm an employer has filed LCAs for senior strategy roles before. A company that has never sponsored above manager level is a harder sell, regardless of how interested they seem.
Lead with business impact, not job duties
H-1B and O-1 visa petitions for director-level roles succeed when the employer can articulate why a specific candidate is irreplaceable. Frame your experience around revenue outcomes and market expansion, not responsibilities you managed day to day.
A graduate degree significantly strengthens your petition
USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation claims for strategy roles. An MBA or master's in a relevant field directly counters the argument that no specific degree is required, which is the most common denial reason for this title.
O-1A is worth exploring if your background is strong
Directors with board memberships, published work, speaking engagements, or awards may qualify for O-1A, which has no lottery and no annual cap. Ask an immigration attorney to assess your profile before committing to H-1B.
Negotiate sponsorship terms before accepting an offer
Premium processing, legal fee coverage, and green card filing timelines should be part of your offer discussion. Senior candidates have more leverage here than they realize, and employers expect these conversations at the director level.
Browse Migrate Mate to find employers already sponsoring this role
Migrate Mate surfaces Director of Strategic Growth positions where sponsorship is confirmed. Applying to employers already comfortable with the process cuts weeks of negotiation and avoids offers that fall apart over visa logistics at the last stage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Director of Strategic Growth role qualify for H-1B specialty occupation status?
Yes, but it requires careful documentation. USCIS has challenged strategy and growth titles on the grounds that no single degree field is universally required. The strongest petitions pair the role with an MBA or a master's in business, economics, or a related field, and include a detailed job duties breakdown showing the position demands theoretical and practical application of that specialized knowledge.
What visa options exist beyond H-1B for this role?
The O-1A is the most viable alternative for candidates with a strong record of achievement. Published research, speaking engagements at major industry conferences, board or advisory roles, and awards in the business or strategy field can all count toward O-1A criteria. The EB-1A or EB-2 NIW pathways are worth discussing with an attorney if you have an exceptional or nationally recognized body of work.
How common is visa sponsorship for Director of Strategic Growth positions?
Sponsorship is more common at larger technology companies, management consulting firms, and private equity-backed growth-stage businesses than at small or early-stage startups. Senior roles attract sponsorship when the employer cannot fill the position domestically. Candidates who demonstrate a measurable track record in revenue growth or market expansion close sponsorship conversations faster than those who present generalist profiles.
Does my degree need to be in a specific field to support an H-1B petition for this title?
There is no single required field, but USCIS expects a direct connection between your degree and the specific job duties. Business, economics, finance, marketing, and industrial engineering degrees are commonly cited. A general humanities or unrelated STEM degree without supplementary credentials makes the specialty occupation argument harder. Relevant experience can help, but it does not substitute for a degree in an H-1B visa petition.
Where can I find Director of Strategic Growth jobs with confirmed visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Director of Strategic Growth roles where employers have an active sponsorship history. Filtering by visa sponsorship upfront saves significant time compared to applying broadly and discovering late in the process that an employer is unwilling or unable to file a petition. Start your search on Migrate Mate to see which companies are actively hiring and sponsoring at this level.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Director Strategic Growth jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
