The Transportation Specialist 2 will report to the Accounts Payable section of the Finance Division. The position is performed under limited supervision. This position will review and approve level two of WVOASIS documents, train central and state-wide employees, coordinate with appropriate personnel to correct rejected documents and resolve issues preventing payment. Will assist with auditing and processing Request-Commodity Based (PRDC) contract payments, and other related duties as required.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Classifies/codes a variety of transactions that require considerable knowledge.
- Review and approve financial documents in WVOASIS.
- Complex reconciliations, transfers funds, and balances multiple accounts.
- Examines accounting records to assure adherence to accounting laws and regulations; verify calculations and ensure accuracy and validity of transactions.
- Contact associates and administrators to resolve problems with more complex accounts.
- Makes recommendations on the development or revision of agency policies and procedures.
- Train, lead, and/or review the work of subordinate staff.
- Leads others with difficult and/or complex financial work in general accounting.
- Creates and interprets varied reports, computer-generated materials, and related data.
- Travel may be required: Therefore, a valid driver’s license is required.
Minimum Qualifications
Preference may be given to Candidates with these qualifications
TRAINING/EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Substitution: Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, budget, or business may be substituted for the required training/education through an established formula.
EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, or related experience.
Substitution: Successful completion of graduate coursework from a regionally accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience through an established formula.
Promotional Only: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a Transportation Financial Specialist 1.
