Accounting Manager Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a accounting manager job in Chicago?
Target the Loop and River North, where Chicago's financial services firms, large professional services practices, and corporate headquarters concentrate the most accounting manager openings. Mid-size manufacturers along the I-290 corridor and healthcare systems like those in Streeterville and the Medical District also hire consistently. Candidates who demonstrate experience closing multi-entity consolidations, ERP migrations, or audit readiness tend to stand out in Chicago's competitive market.
Which companies hire accounting managers in Chicago?
Employers hiring accounting managers in Chicago right now include DLC, EY, and CDW, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters, regional banks, insurance carriers, and mid-market professional services firms keeps demand broad and fairly consistent across the year.
Are there remote accounting manager jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though accounting manager roles skew more hybrid than fully remote given the close collaboration required with finance teams, auditors, and senior leadership. About 81% of accounting manager openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with fully remote arrangements more common at software and fintech employers based in the area.
How can I get a accounting manager job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a senior accountant or accounting supervisor role within a Chicago employer, particularly at mid-size manufacturing, logistics, or professional services firms that promote from within. Chicago's large regional accounting firms and corporate shared services centers in the suburbs regularly hire staff accountants they develop into management roles. Gaining CPA licensure and ERP experience significantly accelerates that progression locally.
