Corporate Finance Manager Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a corporate finance manager in Illinois?
Most corporate finance manager roles in Illinois require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, with an MBA or CPA providing a meaningful edge in Chicago's competitive market. There is no state-issued license specific to corporate finance management in Illinois, but many employers prioritize candidates who hold or are actively pursuing a CPA through the Illinois Board of Examiners or a CFA charter. Promotion typically follows several years in analyst or senior analyst roles within FP&A, treasury, or accounting.
Which companies hire corporate finance managers in Illinois?
Employers hiring corporate finance managers in Illinois right now include FTI Consulting, RWE, and PGIM, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's high concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in and around Chicago means finance teams here tend to be large, well-resourced, and hiring at multiple seniority levels across FP&A, M&A, and treasury functions.
Which Illinois cities have the most corporate finance manager jobs?
Chicago, Lisle, and Lombard lead Illinois for corporate finance manager openings. Chicago dominates given its density of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and private equity shops, while Naperville and Deerfield draw significant hiring from large suburban campus employers like Nicor Gas and Baxter International, creating strong demand outside the city core.
Are there remote corporate finance manager jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than many fields, since corporate finance work is primarily analytical and desk-based. About 78% of corporate finance manager openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader flexibility across financial planning, budgeting, and reporting functions. Roles with significant board-level presentation or cross-department collaboration often lean hybrid rather than fully remote.
How can I get hired as a corporate finance manager in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is entering through a financial analyst or FP&A analyst role at a large Illinois employer, then building toward management. Companies like Caterpillar, Abbott, and United Airlines run structured finance rotational programs that place early-career candidates across treasury, FP&A, and corporate development. Pursuing a CPA through the Illinois Board of Examiners or an MBA from a program like Booth or Kellogg signals readiness for advancement and makes a significant difference in competitive Chicago-area hiring.
Where can I find and apply to corporate finance manager jobs in Illinois?
