Tips for Your Corporate Finance Manager Job Search
Quantify impact on your resume
Corporate finance manager resumes live or die by numbers. Replace vague statements with specifics: cost reductions you drove, forecast accuracy you improved, or working capital cycles you shortened. Hiring teams screen for evidence of financial impact, not just responsibility.
Highlight your FP&A and systems experience
Most corporate finance manager postings ask for hands-on experience with financial modeling, variance analysis, and tools like Hyperion, Anaplan, or SAP. Call these out explicitly in your resume rather than burying them in a skills list at the bottom.
Target roles by business model fit
A corporate finance manager role at a private equity-backed company looks very different from one at a publicly traded firm or a nonprofit. Read job descriptions for clues about reporting structure and financial complexity before applying, so your cover letter matches their actual pain points.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists corporate finance manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare for a financial modeling case interview
Many corporate finance manager interviews include a take-home or live modeling exercise covering a three-statement model, DCF, or scenario analysis. Practice building these from scratch under time pressure so the mechanics are automatic before your interview.
Negotiate using comp benchmarks and scope
When negotiating, anchor to the scope of the role: budget size you manage, number of direct reports, and reporting level. Finance hiring managers respond better to a scope-based case than to generic market comparisons, because it ties your ask directly to the complexity of what they need.
Corporate Finance Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most corporate finance managers?
The companies hiring the most corporate finance managers right now include Berkeley Research Group, FTI Consulting, and EY, with the largest share of openings in New York, California, and Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Demand is consistently strong at large enterprises undergoing growth, restructuring, or acquisition activity.
How many corporate finance manager jobs are remote?
About 81% of corporate finance manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the role's heavy reliance on cross-functional collaboration and executive-level reporting. Financial planning and analysis sub-functions tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while treasury and controllership roles are more often on-site.
How do you become a corporate finance manager?
Start with a finance, accounting, or economics degree and build several years of experience in FP&A, corporate development, or accounting. Earning a CPA or MBA accelerates advancement into manager-level roles. From there, move into positions with increasing responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, and cross-functional financial reporting until you can own an entire planning cycle independently.
Can you get hired as a corporate finance manager without direct management experience?
Yes, some corporate finance manager roles are individual contributor positions that use the manager title to reflect scope rather than headcount. If you lack direct reports, emphasize cross-functional leadership, project ownership, and influence over financial decisions. Smaller companies and high-growth startups are more likely to hire candidates who demonstrate strong analytical and business partnering skills even without prior people management.
What does the corporate finance manager interview process look like?
Most processes include an initial recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation focused on your financial background and business acumen, and a technical round involving a modeling exercise or case study. Final rounds typically include panel interviews with CFO or VP-level stakeholders who assess how well you communicate financial insights to non-finance audiences and how you approach strategic tradeoffs.
Where can I find and apply to corporate finance manager jobs?
You can find and apply to corporate finance manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to each one that fits.
