Tips for Your Manager Of Finance Job Search
Quantify budget ownership on your resume
Hiring managers for manager of finance roles want to see the scale you've managed. Replace vague language with specifics: total budget overseen, cost reductions achieved, or forecast accuracy improvements. Numbers anchor your impact and move your resume past initial screening.
Highlight your FP&A and ERP tool fluency
Most manager of finance postings list Hyperion, SAP, Oracle, or Workday as requirements. Name every system you've used in a dedicated skills section so applicant tracking systems surface your resume when recruiters filter by tool.
Target postings that match your industry vertical
Finance operations differ sharply across healthcare, manufacturing, and SaaS. When you apply to roles in your sector, your knowledge of industry-specific reporting cycles, compliance obligations, and margin structures makes your cover letter concrete and credible.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists manager of finance openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a business partnering example for interviews
Interviewers at the manager of finance level routinely ask how you've influenced decisions outside the finance team. Prepare a structured example showing how your analysis shaped a strategic choice made by operations, sales, or leadership.
Negotiate using total compensation, not base alone
Many manager of finance offers include bonus targets, equity, and professional development budgets. Before your final conversation, research the full comp structure for the role tier so you can counter on components beyond base salary without leaving value behind.
Manager Of Finance Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most manager of finances?
The companies hiring the most manager of finances right now include Marriott International, Jobot, and University of Maryland Global Campus, with the largest share of openings in California, New York, and Florida, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Openings tend to concentrate in healthcare systems, large manufacturers, and technology firms with established finance functions.
How many manager of finance jobs are remote?
About 50% of manager of finance openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, though on-site arrangements remain common for roles tied to plant operations or executive reporting. FP&A and corporate finance sub-specialties tend to have the highest share of remote and hybrid flexibility compared to treasury or operational finance roles.
How do you become a manager of finance?
Start with a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field, then build several years of experience in financial analysis, reporting, or accounting. Move into roles with increasing ownership over budgets or forecasting cycles, earn credentials such as a CPA or CFA to strengthen your candidacy, and develop cross-functional communication skills that let you work effectively with non-finance stakeholders.
Can you get a manager of finance job with limited experience?
Breaking in with limited experience is possible if you emphasize adjacent skills: financial modeling, Excel or ERP tool fluency, and any ownership of a reporting process, even at a smaller scale. Targeting smaller companies or industries with high finance hiring volume gives you more room to grow into the manager scope, and an MBA or CPA designation can offset a thinner experience record.
What does the manager of finance interview process look like?
The process typically starts with a recruiter or HR screen focused on your background and compensation expectations, followed by a technical round where you walk through a financial model, interpret variance analysis, or complete a case exercise. Final rounds usually involve a panel with the CFO, a department head, and a peer, where questions center on leadership style, business partnering experience, and how you've handled financial risk or error.
Where can I find and apply to manager of finance jobs?
You can find and apply to manager of finance jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your background, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to each position that fits.
