AI Data Engineer Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ai data engineer in Oklahoma?
Becoming an ai data engineer in Oklahoma starts with a bachelor's degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a closely related technical field, which virtually every Oklahoma employer lists as a baseline. No state-issued license or registration governs the role in Oklahoma. Most candidates strengthen their candidacy through vendor certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Databricks, which Oklahoma employers in energy and finance treat as meaningful proxies for hands-on cloud experience.
How much do AI data engineers make in Oklahoma?
AI data engineers in Oklahoma earn a median of about $86,310 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $58,690 for the lowest 10% to over $145,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ai data engineers in Oklahoma?
Employers hiring ai data engineers in Oklahoma right now include CVS Health, Halliburton, and Waterfield Technologies, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Oklahoma's energy sector, anchored in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, generates particularly consistent demand as companies modernize their operational data infrastructure.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most ai data engineer jobs?
Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma City account for the most ai data engineer openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City dominates because it is home to Paycom's corporate headquarters and the state's largest concentration of energy companies, while Tulsa draws demand from midstream and refining firms investing in data modernization, and Norman benefits from its proximity to the University of Oklahoma's research and technology commercialization activity.
Are there remote ai data engineer jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of ai data engineer openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how thoroughly the role centers on cloud platforms and collaborative tooling that require no physical presence. Pipeline development, data modeling, and ML integration work are the functions most frequently offered fully remote by Oklahoma-based employers.
How can I get hired as a ai data engineer in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a data analyst or junior data engineer role at one of Oklahoma's energy companies or technology firms, where candidates transition into pipeline and infrastructure work as they build Python and cloud skills on the job. Paycom in Oklahoma City and mid-size energy operators in Tulsa regularly onboard recent graduates from the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University into associate data roles. Building a portfolio of public pipeline projects on GitHub and earning an entry-level AWS or Azure certification gives candidates a concrete edge when applying without professional experience.
Where can I find and apply to ai data engineer jobs in Oklahoma?
