Anesthesiologist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a anesthesiologist in Texas?
To practice as an anesthesiologist in Texas, you must obtain a full medical license from the Texas Medical Board, which requires completing medical school, an internship year, and a four-year ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency. After residency, most Texas employers expect board certification through the American Board of Anesthesiology. You must also hold a valid DEA registration before seeing patients independently.
How much do anesthesiologists make in Texas?
Anesthesiologists in Texas earn a median of about $215,230 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $168,750 for the lowest 10% to over $488,670 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire anesthesiologists in Texas?
Employers hiring anesthesiologists in Texas right now include NorthStar Anesthesia, Baylor Scott & White Health, and Baylor College of Medicine, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of large academic medical centers and multi-hospital health systems means staffing needs are consistent year-round rather than tied to seasonal surges.
Which Texas cities have the most anesthesiologist jobs?
Houston, Temple, and Corpus Christi lead the state for anesthesiologist openings in Texas. Houston's vast Texas Medical Center, home to dozens of hospitals and research institutions, drives significant demand on its own, while Dallas and San Antonio reflect the growth of major multi-site health systems and a rapidly expanding surgical and outpatient care sector across each metro.
Are there remote anesthesiologist jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Anesthesiology is inherently a hands-on clinical specialty requiring physical presence for nearly all patient care. About 0% of anesthesiologist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be administrative, telemedicine consultation, or pain management follow-up roles rather than primary OR or procedural positions.
How can I get hired as a anesthesiologist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to fellowship or new-attending programs at large Texas academic systems such as UT Southwestern, UTHealth Houston, or Baylor Scott and White, which regularly onboard physicians completing residency. Many Texas physician groups also offer transitional attending positions for those within their first two years of practice. Having an active Texas Medical Board license and ABA board candidacy status gives new graduates a significant edge in the application process.
Where can I find and apply to anesthesiologist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to anesthesiologist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Texas employers. Search the listings to find roles that match your specialty, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
