About the Role
We are seeking an Application Support Engineer with strong SQL Server experience to provide Level 3 support for business-critical applications. This role focuses on advanced troubleshooting of production issues, analyzing and optimizing existing SQL objects, and ensuring system stability and performance. The position is primarily backend-focused, with occasional direct interaction with customers to support issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 3 application support for enterprise systems
- Lead investigation and resolution of complex production issues
- Analyze and optimize existing SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexes
- Perform controlled data validation and corrections in SQL Server
- Diagnose issues across the full application stack — SQL Server, .NET, and React
- Monitor application and database performance and drive root cause analysis
- Partner with development teams on defect resolution and long-term fixes
- Occasionally engage with customers to clarify issues and communicate resolutions
- Document root causes, permanent fixes, and support procedures
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in application or production support, including Level 3 responsibilities
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Advanced SQL troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
- Experience reviewing execution plans and optimizing existing database objects
- Exposure to .NET and React applications, with the ability to read code, trace stack traces/logs, and isolate issues.
- Strong understanding of application architecture, data flows, and integrations
- Proven ability to independently resolve complex technical issues
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
- Experience supporting enterprise or SaaS applications
- Familiarity with Azure environments
- Experience with New Relic or similar application performance monitoring tools
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, or GitHub Copilot
