Architect Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a architect job in Los Angeles?
The most direct path is targeting the sectors that drive LA's architecture market: large commercial developers, entertainment studio campuses, hospitality groups, and municipal infrastructure projects. Jobs concentrate in Downtown LA, Culver City, West Hollywood, and the Westside corridors. Candidates who stand out typically have project experience in adaptive reuse or mixed-use development, both of which are active priorities for LA-area firms right now.
Which companies hire architects in Los Angeles?
Companies currently hiring architects in Los Angeles include Mott MacDonald, UCLA Health, and Apex Technology, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Los Angeles employers range from global design firms and entertainment-adjacent studios to municipal agencies and mid-size commercial developers concentrated across the Westside and Downtown core.
Are there remote architect jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though remote work is limited by nature since most architect roles involve site visits, client meetings, and hands-on coordination. About 42% of architect openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, skewing toward roles in design development, technical documentation, and project management rather than field-heavy positions.
How can I get a architect job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is landing an architectural intern or junior designer role at a mid-size commercial or residential firm, where smaller teams give new hires broader exposure early. LA's density of design-build firms, hospitality developers, and entertainment studio facilities also creates openings for entry-level candidates willing to start in drafting, permitting support, or construction document coordination before moving into full design roles.
Which industries hire the most architects in Los Angeles?
The sectors hiring the most architects in Los Angeles are Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Los Angeles's scale as a global entertainment hub, combined with ongoing commercial development and a large residential market, keeps architect demand concentrated across those sectors year-round.
