Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Architect to support a mission-critical Intelligence Community customer. This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, administering, and optimizing PostgreSQL database environments while ensuring database availability, performance, integrity, and security.
- Design, implement, administer, and support PostgreSQL database environments.
- Maintain database availability, integrity, security, and performance.
- Configure role-based access control (RBAC), administrator accounts, and service accounts.
- Monitor database environments and configure PostgreSQL server alerts.
- Perform database performance tuning and troubleshoot database-related issues.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, patching, backups, restores, and migrations.
- Implement and support database high-availability and recovery solutions.
- Collaborate with developers on schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures.
- Design and maintain efficient database structures for transactional and data warehouse environments.
- Develop testing strategies, execute testing, and document results.
- Evaluate open-source and vendor database tools and technologies.
- Support database migration and modernization initiatives involving PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL.
- Maintain technical documentation, configurations, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure database environments comply with applicable security, industry, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and database support to users and project teams.
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- 5+ years of database administration and/or database analysis experience
- Hands-on PostgreSQL administration and performance-tuning experience
- Experience implementing and supporting database high-availability solutions.
- Experience with database backup, restore, migration, and snapshot technologies and strategies.
- Experience monitoring and managing PostgreSQL database environments and alerts.
- Knowledge of database architecture and table structures for transactional and warehouse data.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, military experience, and/or relevant work experience.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Oracle database administration experience.
- Database migration experience involving Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification.
- Experience supporting database modernization initiatives within government or Intelligence Community environments.
