Assistant Construction Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assistant construction manager in Massachusetts?
Most employers in Massachusetts hire assistant construction managers who hold a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture, often supplemented by an internship or co-op on a commercial or institutional project. Massachusetts does not require a state-issued license specifically for assistant construction managers, but many pursue OSHA certifications and work toward the Construction Manager in Training credential through the Construction Management Association of America to strengthen their candidacy.
Which companies hire assistant construction managers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring assistant construction managers in Massachusetts right now include Aieres, Reframe Systems, and Burns & McDonnell, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's large pipeline of healthcare, higher education, and public infrastructure projects means that general contractors and construction management firms of all sizes maintain ongoing hiring activity throughout the state.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most assistant construction manager jobs?
The cities with the most assistant construction manager openings in Massachusetts are Boston, Burlington, and Holden. Boston drives the largest share of demand because of its dense concentration of hospital expansions, university construction, and mixed-use development, while Worcester and other metros contribute openings tied to regional infrastructure upgrades and institutional campus projects.
Are there remote assistant construction manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're rare. About 25% of assistant construction manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the hands-on, site-dependent nature of the role. The portions of the job most likely to be performed remotely are preconstruction planning, submittal review, and project reporting rather than active field coordination.
How can I get hired as a assistant construction manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is applying directly for internship or co-op positions while completing a construction management or civil engineering degree, since large Massachusetts firms like Suffolk Construction and Turner Construction run structured programs that regularly convert participants into full-time hires. Candidates with adjacent experience as a project engineer intern, estimating assistant, or field engineer are also competitive, and holding an OSHA 10-Hour card before applying gives a measurable edge in the Massachusetts market.
