Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in overseeing daily nursing operations and ensuring high-quality, safe, and compliant resident/patient care.

The ADON will assist with clinical leadership, staff supervision, scheduling, education, quality assurance, and coordination of nursing services. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can effectively manage a busy nursing department while maintaining excellent standards of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing with the daily management and coordination of nursing services.
• Supervise and support nurses, CNAs, and other nursing department staff.
• Develop, maintain, and adjust staff schedules to ensure appropriate nursing coverage based on census, staffing needs, and acuity.
• Coordinate call-outs, replacements, shift changes, and staffing needs.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality, and staff performance.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, orientation, and training of nursing staff.
• Ensure adequate staffing levels for all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Conduct rounds and monitor the quality of resident/patient care.
• Ensure compliance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and applicable nursing standards.
• Assist with medication management, documentation, care plans, incident reports, and clinical oversight as needed.
• Monitor infection prevention and control practices.
• Assist with quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
• Address resident/patient and family concerns professionally and promptly.
• Provide guidance and support to nursing staff regarding clinical and operational issues.
• Assist the DON with audits, surveys, investigations, and regulatory compliance.
• Serve as a nursing leader and role model for the team.
• Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Nursing.

Qualifications

• Current RN or LPN license in good standing, as required by state regulations.
• Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with staff scheduling and nursing department coordination.
• Strong knowledge of nursing practices, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and support nursing staff.

Preferred Experience

• Long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation, or healthcare management experience.
• Experience with electronic medical records and scheduling systems.
• Experience preparing for state and regulatory surveys.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
