Assistant Project Manager Jobs in Charlotte: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a assistant project manager job in Charlotte?
Focus on Charlotte's three strongest hiring sectors: commercial construction and real estate development Uptown and along the South End corridor, financial services firms concentrated in the central business district, and the expanding healthcare systems anchored in the University City area. Candidates who combine a PMP or CAPM credential with experience in construction management software or financial project workflows stand out. Networking through the local PMI Carolinas chapter also opens doors that online applications often do not.
Which companies hire assistant project managers in Charlotte?
Companies currently hiring assistant project managers in Charlotte include HarperGC, Gray Construction, and ENFRA, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Charlotte's mix of major bank headquarters, active commercial developers, and large regional health systems means hiring comes from a wide range of employer types rather than a single dominant industry.
Are there remote assistant project manager jobs in Charlotte?
Yes, though with limits: assistant project manager work that involves on-site coordination, contractor oversight, or construction progress reviews is largely in-person, while roles tied to financial project tracking, IT implementations, or program administration can be hybrid or fully remote. About 0% of assistant project manager openings tied to Charlotte are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. The remote-friendliest openings tend to come from Charlotte's financial services and technology-adjacent employers rather than its construction and development firms.
How can I get a assistant project manager job in Charlotte with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Charlotte is through project coordinator or administrative roles inside one of the city's large construction firms or healthcare systems, where internal movement into assistant project manager positions is common. Charlotte's ongoing commercial development pipeline, particularly in South End and the Ballantyne area, means general contractors regularly hire junior support staff who can grow into project management roles. Earning a CAPM certificate while in an entry-level coordinator role signals commitment and accelerates that transition with most local employers.
Which industries hire the most assistant project managers in Charlotte?
Charlotte assistant project manager roles concentrate in Construction & Real Estate, Consulting & Professional Services, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Charlotte's position as a major banking hub, a fast-growing commercial construction market, and home to several large regional health systems creates consistent demand across all three sectors simultaneously.
