Assistant Teacher Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a assistant teacher job in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles hires assistant teachers most heavily through LAUSD, charter school networks in South LA and East LA, and early childhood programs tied to Head Start and community centers in the San Fernando Valley. Candidates with bilingual Spanish or Armenian skills stand out in neighborhoods where those communities are concentrated. Familiarity with classroom management in large, diverse school settings gives applicants a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire assistant teachers in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles assistant teacher roles are posted by Volunteers of America, Happy Nook, and Dream Kiz Preschool and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Hiring comes from a wide mix of public school systems, independent charter operators, private preschools, and nonprofit after-school organizations spread across the metro.
Are there remote assistant teacher jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though options are limited since most assistant teacher work requires in-person classroom presence. About 0% of assistant teacher openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, mostly covering tutoring, virtual instructional support, or administrative aide functions. Roles tied to special education or curriculum support coordination are the most likely to offer any remote flexibility locally.
How can I get a assistant teacher job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is through LAUSD's instructional aide program or volunteer positions with local Head Start and Early Head Start sites in communities like Boyle Heights and Watts. Many charter networks in South LA and the Valley hire entry-level classroom support staff and train on the job. Completing a basic CPR certification and being available for full-day assignments makes candidates significantly more competitive.
