Attorney Jobs in Baltimore: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a attorney job in Baltimore?
Focus your search on Baltimore's strongest hiring sectors: federal and state government agencies clustered around the Inner Harbor, large hospital systems in East Baltimore, and mid-size litigation boutiques in Mount Vernon. Candidates who can point to Maryland court experience, familiarity with federal district practice, or a specialty in healthcare or government contracting law have a clear edge over generalists in this market.
Which companies hire attorneys in Baltimore?
Companies currently hiring attorneys in Baltimore include Goldberg Segalla LLP, Office of the Attorney General, and Maryland Legal Aid, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Baltimore's employer mix is broad, covering regional law firms, large academic medical centers, financial institutions, and federal and state government offices, all with ongoing legal staffing needs.
Are there remote attorney jobs in Baltimore?
Yes, though attorney work is less remote-friendly than most desk roles because court appearances, client meetings, and in-person hearings are routine. About 67% of attorney openings tied to Baltimore are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. Transactional, compliance, and contract review roles tied to Baltimore-based employers are the most likely to offer flexible or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get a attorney job in Baltimore with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Baltimore is a judicial clerkship with the Maryland state courts or the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, both of which give clerks direct exposure to Baltimore's legal community. Nonprofit legal aid organizations and the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office also hire entry-level attorneys and fellows, and government agency roles at the Maryland Attorney General's office are another strong option for new graduates building trial or regulatory experience.
Which industries hire the most attorneys in Baltimore?
The sectors hiring the most attorneys in Baltimore are Law & Legal Services, Staffing & Recruiting, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Baltimore's position as a hub for federal courts, major academic medical systems, and state government offices drives consistent demand across those sectors throughout the year.
