Attorney Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a attorney job in Philadelphia?
Philadelphia's strongest hiring happens in its large Am Law 100 firms anchored in Center City, the city's growing healthcare and life sciences sector around University City, and public-sector offices including the Philadelphia District Attorney and City Solicitor. Candidates with clerkship experience, Pennsylvania bar admission, and courtroom or transactional depth in those sectors move fastest here. Networking through the Philadelphia Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division also opens doors that postings alone don't.
Which companies hire attorneys in Philadelphia?
Employers hiring attorneys in Philadelphia right now include Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, Bennett, Bricklin & Saltzburg, and Jobot, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Philadelphia's legal employer base ranges from multinational law firms and regional boutiques in Center City to major health systems, insurers, and financial institutions that maintain substantial in-house counsel teams across the metro.
Are there remote attorney jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, though it varies sharply by practice area. Litigation and court-facing roles require regular in-person presence, while contract review, compliance, and regulatory work can run fully remote. About 67% of attorney openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how many employers here still value on-site availability for client-facing work. In-house roles at Philadelphia's major health systems and insurers tend to offer the most hybrid flexibility.
How can I get a attorney job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Philadelphia is a judicial clerkship with the Court of Common Pleas or federal district court, which carries significant weight with Center City firms and government offices alike. Philadelphia's large public-interest sector, including the Defender Association and Community Legal Services, regularly hires new attorneys and offers fast courtroom exposure. Entry-level in-house roles at the city's health systems and universities are another practical route, particularly for candidates with relevant undergraduate or graduate backgrounds.
Which industries hire the most attorneys in Philadelphia?
Philadelphia attorney roles concentrate in Government & Public Sector and Staffing & Recruiting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Philadelphia's position as a regional hub for healthcare, financial services, and insurance, combined with its large government and public-interest sector, drives consistent demand across both private practice and in-house counsel roles throughout the year.
