Martin Marietta is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer specializing in the AVEVA PI System to join the Enterprise Engineering Services Team as part of the Automation Group. The Automation Group provides world-class plant automation and operational data solutions through projects, operations support, and operational excellence initiatives.
Location: The position is based at Martin Marietta’s headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Responsibilities:
Being a good Wingman in supporting Martin Marietta’s safety culture and regulatory compliance by adhering to and monitoring for compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
Serve as technical lead and subject matter expert for the enterprise AVEVA PI System, including PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework (AF), PI Vision, PI Analytics, Event Frames, Notifications, and administration tools.
Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot PI System infrastructure, applications, and data flows across multiple plant locations.
Integrate data from PLCs, SCADA systems, AVEVA System Platform, OPC servers, industrial equipment, databases, and other OT or enterprise sources using PI Interfaces, Connectors, or AVEVA Adapters.
Develop and govern PI AF asset hierarchies, templates, naming conventions, metadata, analytics, and reusable enterprise standards.
Create and maintain PI Vision displays, dashboards, KPIs, condition monitoring, Event Frames, and notifications for operational and business users.
Monitor PI System health, availability, data quality, interfaces, buffering, archives, security, backups, and capacity; support upgrades, high availability, and disaster recovery with IT and Cybersecurity.
Lead PI projects and plant onboarding through testing, commissioning, documentation, training, and support handoff.
Troubleshoot complex system and integration issues, maintain technical documentation, mentor users and technical personnel.
Participate in the Automation Group on-call rotation.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered.
Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience engineering, administering, implementing, or supporting AVEVA PI System or OSIsoft PI System in an industrial environment.
Demonstrated experience with PI Data Archive, PI AF, PI Vision, PI Analytics, Event Frames, PI System Explorer, and PI System Management Tools.
Working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA/DCS platforms, OPC communications, instrumentation, Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, virtualization, and industrial cybersecurity principles.
Experience with PI Web API, AF SDK, PowerShell, SQL, Python, Power BI, AVEVA System Platform, or highly available PI architectures is preferred.
Strong communication, leadership, organization, documentation, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to support geographically dispersed teams.
Motivated team player able to work independently, mentor others, remain current with technology, participate in on-call support, and work extended hours when required.
Willingness to travel overnight approximately 10-20% of the time.
