Automation Engineer Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a automation engineer job in Seattle?
Focus your search on Seattle's aerospace and advanced manufacturing employers clustered around Boeing's Puget Sound operations, the enterprise software companies concentrated in South Lake Union and the Eastside, and the life sciences firms expanding in South Lake Union and Bothell. Candidates with hands-on PLC programming, robotics integration, or test automation experience stand out in this market. Tailoring your resume to the specific automation stack each employer uses gives you a clear edge.
Which companies hire automation engineers in Seattle?
Companies currently hiring automation engineers in Seattle include Amazon, Apple, and Deloitte, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Seattle's mix of aerospace primes, cloud computing companies, and medical device manufacturers means automation engineers here work across a wider range of industries and tech stacks than in most U.S. cities.
Are there remote automation engineer jobs in Seattle?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role: software test automation and DevOps-adjacent positions are frequently remote, while hands-on roles involving robotics, PLC programming, or manufacturing floor systems are almost always on-site. About 43% of automation engineer openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with the strongest remote options found in software-driven automation at Seattle's enterprise tech employers.
How can I get a automation engineer job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Seattle is targeting associate or junior automation test engineer roles at the city's mid-size enterprise software companies, which hire more entry-level talent than the large aerospace primes. Building a portfolio of scripted test suites or small PLC projects through community college programs at Bellevue College or Seattle Central gives local hiring managers something concrete to evaluate. Internships at Boeing or Amazon's robotics divisions also convert to full-time roles at a meaningful rate.
Which industries hire the most automation engineers in Seattle?
The sectors hiring the most automation engineers in Seattle are Technology & Software, Retail, and E-Commerce & Online Marketplaces, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Seattle's concentration of Boeing's engineering operations, Amazon's robotics and fulfillment infrastructure, and a growing life sciences cluster in South Lake Union and Bothell makes the city unusually broad in the types of automation work available.
