Position Summary

KolKay Electric is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Project Manager to lead complex electrical construction projects from preconstruction and project turnover through completion and closeout.

This is a leadership-level position for someone who understands both the operational and financial sides of electrical construction. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall success and profitability of assigned projects while maintaining strong relationships with customers, field leadership, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.

The ideal candidate is proactive, financially disciplined, highly organized, and comfortable making decisions. They anticipate issues before they become problems, communicate clearly, and take ownership of their projects from beginning to end.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & Execution

• Take ownership of assigned projects from estimator handoff through final closeout.
• Lead project kickoff and turnover meetings with Estimating, Field Operations, and project staff.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, procurement plans, submittal schedules, and project-specific execution plans.
• Coordinate with General Contractors, Owners, Engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work to identify requirements, risks, and opportunities.
• Proactively identify project issues and develop solutions before they impact cost or schedule.
• Conduct regular project and site meetings as needed.
• Ensure project documentation is accurate, timely, and complete.

Financial Management

• Take responsibility for the financial performance and profitability of assigned projects.
• Establish project budgets and cost codes following turnover from Estimating.
• Monitor labor productivity, material costs, subcontractor costs, commitments, and overall project performance.
• Prepare and maintain accurate cost projections and forecasts through project completion.
• Identify potential cost overruns early and develop corrective action plans.
• Manage monthly billing and ensure timely, accurate progress billings.
• Identify, price, negotiate, and execute change orders in a timely manner.
• Monitor project cash flow, receivables, retention, and outstanding change orders.
• Conduct regular project financial reviews with company leadership.

Field & Operations Coordination

• Develop strong working relationships with Foremen, General Foremen, and Field Operations.
• Provide field leadership with the information, materials, equipment, and decisions needed to execute work efficiently.
• Monitor labor performance against estimated hours and project budgets.
• Support manpower planning and coordination across projects.
• Visit jobsites regularly to understand project conditions, progress, and challenges.
• Work collaboratively with field leadership while maintaining accountability for project performance.

Procurement & Subcontract Management

• Manage major material procurement and long-lead equipment.
• Review and approve purchase orders and subcontract commitments.
• Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors when appropriate.
• Track procurement schedules to prevent impacts to field operations.
• Manage subcontractor performance, changes, documentation, and closeout.

Customer & Contract Management

• Serve as a primary point of contact for customers throughout the project.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with General Contractors, Owners, Engineers, and industry partners.
• Understand and manage contractual requirements, notices, schedules, and documentation.
• Protect KolKay's contractual and financial interests while maintaining professional customer relationships.
• Address difficult conversations and project conflicts directly and professionally.
• Identify opportunities for repeat business and future work.

Leadership & Team Development

• Provide leadership and mentorship to Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Project Administrators as assigned.
• Help establish consistent project management processes and best practices.
• Share lessons learned across the organization.
• Support the development of less-experienced team members.
• Promote accountability, collaboration, and communication between the office and field.
• Participate in company planning, operational reviews, and continuous improvement efforts.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 5+ years of electrical construction project management experience, with demonstrated responsibility for commercial or public works electrical projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical construction means, methods, materials, and sequencing.
• Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, forecasting, labor productivity, change orders, and project profitability.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, architectural, structural, civil, and mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and subcontract agreements.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build productive relationships with customers, field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
• Strong computer and construction technology skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
