Automation Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a automation in Mississippi?
Most automation roles in Mississippi require at least an associate degree in industrial automation, electrical technology, or mechatronics from an institution such as Hinds Community College or East Mississippi Community College. Employers typically expect hands-on training with PLCs and control systems, which these programs provide. A Certified Automation Professional credential from the International Society of Automation strengthens your application, and some manufacturers specifically look for it when hiring.
Which companies hire automations in Mississippi?
Mississippi automation roles are posted by Steel Dynamics, CBRE, and Omnicell and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's manufacturing corridor, particularly in the Golden Triangle and along the Gulf Coast, sustains consistent demand from aerospace, shipbuilding, and automotive employers year-round.
Which Mississippi cities have the most automation jobs?
Columbus, Canton, and Gulfport post the most automation openings in Mississippi. Jackson anchors state government and utility hiring, Gulfport and Pascagoula draw heavily from shipbuilding and petrochemical facilities, while the Golden Triangle cities of Columbus and Tupelo benefit from Toyota's automotive plant and a cluster of precision manufacturers that rely on automated production lines.
Are there remote automation jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, but they're rare. Automation work is predominantly hands-on and tied to physical equipment on plant floors, so most roles require an on-site presence. About 0% of automation openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to involve system design, programming review, or project engineering rather than direct equipment maintenance.
How can I get hired as a automation in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing an industrial automation or electrical technology program at a Mississippi community college, as Hinds Community College and Meridian Community College both offer hands-on programs with employer partnerships.
