Behavioral Health Specialist Jobs in Memphis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a behavioral health specialist job in Memphis?
Focus your search on Midtown's dense cluster of community mental health organizations, the Medical District's hospital-affiliated behavioral health programs, and Shelby County's publicly funded human services agencies. Memphis employers typically prioritize candidates with direct crisis intervention or case management experience. Certifications in trauma-informed care or substance use counseling strengthen your application considerably in this market, where community-based and integrated care settings drive most of the openings.
Which companies hire behavioral health specialists in Memphis?
Companies currently hiring behavioral health specialists in Memphis include SRVS, MidSouth Sober Living, and BRADFORD HEALTH SERVICES, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Memphis hiring tends to concentrate among large hospital networks, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and county-contracted nonprofit providers serving the greater Shelby County region.
Are there remote behavioral health specialist jobs in Memphis?
Yes, though most behavioral health specialist roles are inherently hands-on and tied to in-person client contact, so full remote positions are less common than in desk-based fields. About 0% of behavioral health specialist openings tied to Memphis are remote or hybrid as of November 2026. Telehealth coordination, utilization review, and care management functions within Memphis health systems are the roles most likely to offer remote flexibility.
How can I get a behavioral health specialist job in Memphis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Memphis is through a community support worker or peer support specialist role at one of Shelby County's contracted mental health nonprofits or crisis stabilization units. Many Midtown-based agencies hire entry-level candidates and provide on-the-job training toward state certification. Volunteering with Memphis crisis lines or completing a field placement at a Federally Qualified Health Center also builds the local referral network that drives many early-career hires in this market.
