Building Automation Systems Jobs in New Hampshire: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a building automation systems technician in New Hampshire?
Most building automation systems roles in New Hampshire are entered through an associate degree in electrical technology or HVAC controls, or through a registered apprenticeship with a mechanical or electrical contractor. While New Hampshire does not issue a dedicated building automation license, many employers require a valid New Hampshire electrician license for work involving low-voltage wiring. Earning a Niagara Framework certification or a Siemens controls credential significantly strengthens your candidacy with major employers in the state.
Which companies hire building automation systems technicians in New Hampshire?
Companies currently hiring building automation systems technicians in New Hampshire include AECOM, Siemens, and City of Nashua, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Healthcare institutions, large university campuses, and commercial facility management firms in the Manchester and Nashua corridors are among the most consistent sources of full-time openings in the state.
Which New Hampshire cities have the most building automation systems jobs?
Bedford, Manchester, and Nashua post the most building automation systems openings in New Hampshire. Manchester and Nashua lead because of their dense commercial real estate and healthcare infrastructure, while Concord draws openings through state government facilities and healthcare campuses, and Hanover sees demand tied to Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Health's large building portfolio.
Are there remote building automation systems jobs in New Hampshire?
Yes, but they're rare. Building automation systems work is largely hands-on, requiring on-site commissioning, hardware installation, and system troubleshooting. About 22% of building automation systems openings tied to New Hampshire are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve remote monitoring, software configuration, or project management rather than field work.
How can I get hired as a building automation systems technician in New Hampshire with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a registered apprenticeship through a New Hampshire mechanical or electrical contractor affiliated with NECA or UA Local 788. Large facility management contractors serving hospitals and universities in Manchester and Nashua regularly bring on technician trainees to assist with installations and commissioning. An associate degree in electrical technology from NHTI or Manchester Community College, combined with a Niagara Framework associate certification, gives candidates a clear edge when competing for junior controls technician roles.
