Security Consultant Jobs in New Hampshire: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security consultant in New Hampshire?
Most security consultants in New Hampshire enter through a combination of a relevant bachelor's degree and an industry certification such as CISSP, CISM, or CPP. New Hampshire does not issue a state-specific license for the general security consulting role, though private investigators and armed security personnel must register with the New Hampshire Department of Safety. Employers across Concord, Manchester, and Nashua typically expect demonstrated project experience alongside credentials before extending a consulting offer.
How much do security consultants make in New Hampshire?
Security consultants in New Hampshire earn a median of about $83,740 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $45,810 for the lowest 10% to over $135,450 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security consultants in New Hampshire?
Companies currently hiring security consultants in New Hampshire include BAE Systems USA, Target, and Ryder System, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New Hampshire's mix of defense contractors in southern Nashua, financial services firms in Manchester, and large healthcare institutions like Dartmouth Health creates steady, year-round demand across both physical and information security consulting disciplines.
Which New Hampshire cities have the most security consultant jobs?
Nashua, Merrimack, and Salem account for the largest share of security consultant openings in New Hampshire. Manchester draws the most listings as the state's largest city and commercial hub, Nashua benefits from its concentration of defense and technology employers in the southern tier, and Concord generates consistent demand through state government agencies and healthcare institutions headquartered in the capital.
Are there remote security consultant jobs in New Hampshire?
Yes, and more than many security roles, since a meaningful portion of consulting work, particularly risk assessments, compliance reviews, and report writing, can be done off-site. About 13% of security consultant openings tied to New Hampshire are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting growing employer flexibility. The portions most likely to stay on-site are physical security audits and classified government or defense contract engagements.
How can I get hired as a security consultant in New Hampshire with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from an adjacent role such as IT analyst, loss prevention specialist, or compliance coordinator into a junior consulting position. New Hampshire employers like BAE Systems and Liberty Mutual periodically post associate or analyst-level openings that accept candidates with internship experience or relevant coursework. Earning a CompTIA Security+ or completing a recognized cybersecurity bootcamp signals readiness to employers who might otherwise require years of direct consulting history.
