Business Development Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business development job in Chicago?
Focus your search on the Loop and River North, where financial services, SaaS, and professional services firms run most of their business development teams. Fulton Market's tech and food-industry companies also hire steadily. A background in consultative sales, partnership management, or account growth gives you a clear edge here. Tailoring your pitch to Chicago's B2B-heavy market, where deals tend to be enterprise-scale, helps you stand out.
Which companies hire business developments in Chicago?
Companies currently hiring business developments in Chicago include Huron Consulting, NORC at the University of Chicago, and IQVIA, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's market skews toward large enterprises, mid-market SaaS firms, financial institutions, and healthcare organizations, all of which maintain active business development functions in the city.
Are there remote business development jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: strategic and inside-sales-oriented positions go remote more often than field-facing or relationship-heavy roles. About 75% of business development openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have adopted flexible models post-pandemic. Account management and inbound pipeline roles tend to be the most remote-friendly in this market.
How can I get a business development job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through a sales development representative or inside sales role at one of the city's many SaaS or fintech companies, which regularly hire candidates who are earlier in their careers. Fulton Market startups and River North technology firms often post associate-level business development openings. A demonstrated ability to qualify leads, write outreach, or manage a CRM pipeline matters more than years of experience at this level.
Which industries hire the most business developments in Chicago?
The sectors hiring the most business developments in Chicago are Technology & Software, Transportation & Logistics, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's position as a hub for financial services, enterprise technology, and healthcare administration means those industries generate consistent demand for professionals who can open and grow commercial relationships.
