This role calls for an experienced reinsurance professional with an entrepreneurial, builder’s mindset — someone who combines strong market credibility and technical understanding of reinsurance structures and Nat Cat risk with the energy to build a pipeline and win business in a fast-growing company.
You will work closely with the SVP, the wider Americas business development team, and Descartes’ underwriting and modelling teams in the US and Paris, and will travel regularly to be in the market with brokers, cedents and partners.

2. Develop Broker and Cedent Relationships
Expand and deepen Descartes’ network of reinsurance brokers, cedents and reinsurers across the Americas.
Develop and promote the value proposition of Descartes’ parametric products as a complement to traditional indemnity reinsurance programs.
Represent Descartes at reinsurance renewals, industry meetings and events, including occasional public speaking engagements.
3. Partner with Underwriting and Modeling
Work closely with underwriting and modelling teams to translate cedent needs into tailored parametric structures and pricing.
Ensure submissions are complete and well-positioned, and that business written meets Descartes’ underwriting standards and guidelines.
Feed broker and cedent feedback into product development to expand the addressable market.

Monitor reinsurance market developments, renewal dynamics and competitor activity, and share insights with the SVP and wider team.
Collaborate with the Americas business development team (retail, wholesale and ART) and colleagues in other Hubs to pursue cross-channel and global opportunities.
Support knowledge sharing and, where relevant, mentor more junior team members.

Who's Hiring

Business Development Manager Jobs in Minneapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business development manager job in Minneapolis?
Focus on the sectors where Minneapolis hires most heavily: enterprise software, medical devices, financial services, and professional services firms clustered Downtown and in the North Loop. Candidates with a network in the local tech or healthcare ecosystem move fastest. Familiarity with Midwest market dynamics, a demonstrated history of quota attainment, and relationships with regional channel partners give applicants a clear edge over generalist candidates.
Which companies hire business development managers in Minneapolis?
Minneapolis business development manager roles are posted by GRAEF, PsychPlus, and U.S. Bank and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Minneapolis draws a mix of Fortune 500 corporate headquarters, regional healthcare systems, and fast-growing technology companies, all of which maintain active business development functions.
Are there remote business development manager jobs in Minneapolis?
Yes, though the role is moderately remote-friendly since much of the work involves client meetings, relationship management, and field activity. About 67% of business development manager openings tied to Minneapolis are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with most flexibility concentrated in SaaS, fintech, and enterprise software roles where client interactions happen virtually.
How can I get a business development manager job in Minneapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Minneapolis is moving up from a sales development representative or account executive role at one of the city's many technology or healthcare companies. Local employers in the North Loop startup scene and established medical device firms regularly hire motivated candidates into junior business development roles. Building a portfolio of closed deals, even small ones, and engaging with Minneapolis networking groups like Twin Cities startup meetups accelerates the transition.
